Proud to discuss the results of PSOGI consensus on HIPEC technology with peers and friends ; Shigeki Kusamura and Aditi Bhatt in this prestigious Podcast series
#RESEARCHSPOTLIGHT New PODCAST alert! The 2022 PSOGI consensus on #HIPEC regimens: HIPEC technologies https://lnkd.in/dfqzycCT Read the manuscript here https://lnkd.in/dB5c7a5h with recommendations on ✅ correct dosimetry of intraperitoneal chemotherapy drugs and their carrier solutions, ✅ the use of heat ✅ the best regimen for each chemotherapy drug used intraperitoneally ✅ safety considerations related to the use of HIPEC In this podcast, Aditi Bhatt from the #PSOGI, discusses the clinical implications of the key results of this section of the consensus with the lead authors kurt Van der Speeten from Ziekenhuis Oost Limberg, Genk, Belgium and Shigeki Kusamura from Istituto Nazionale dei Tumori, Milan Italy. ❓ What is the ideal HIPEC regimen? or can there be an 'ideal HIPEC'? ❓ The best method for performing HIPEC- Closed or Open? ❓ What is best method of calculating the dose of HIPEC drugs? ❓ Should the HIPEC regimen be modified to reduce the morbidity - when and how? ❓ Should there be trials comparing different HIPEC regimens in ovarian cancer? Ideal design for such trials? ❓ Can sodium thiosulfate have a detrimental effect on the efficacy of HIPEC? ❓ What is the ideal temperature for performing HIPEC? And what is the thermal dose equivalent? ❓ Should Oxaliplatin HIPEC be used outside clinical trials? ❓ Should Paclitaxel be used for performing HIPEC? ❓ What can one look forward to in the future- translational research? triple HIPEC? Very Nice Discussion!! Congratulations Peritoneal Surface Oncology Group International (PSOGI)
#PSOGICASE CASE OF THE MONTH #36 Summarized here https://lnkd.in/dE2XFbHV Extensive peritoneal disease that is symptomatic in a teenage girl-would you consider malignancy as as the first diagnosis? And what would you do with the uterus and ovaries? This month the case in point was a 1️⃣ 7️⃣ -year old girl with a low grade borderline serous tumor with few foci of microinvasion in the right ovarian tumour and extensive non-invasive implants in the rest of the peritoneal cavity. ⁉️ Is ovarian cystectomy an option for such patients? ⁉️ Should the uterus be preserved even if there is gross disease on the surface? ⁉️ What if the patient denies consent for hysterectomy and oophorectomy? Should the surgery still performed? ⁉️ What is the role of systemic chemotherapy and of HIPEC? ⁉️ What is the best way to manage recurrent disease? Many controversies were discussed with #PaulSugarbaker and Dr Guillermo Flores Ayala Vivekanand Sharma Dr. Artur Reis Dr. Rubi Gupta This situation could arise in patients with other peritoneal malignancies like peritoneal mesothelioma International Journal of Gynecological Cancer (IJGC) European Society of Surgical Oncology (ESSO) ISSPP e.V. | International Society for the Study of Pleura and Peritoneum European School of Peritoneal Surface Oncology (ESPSO) INDEPSO SPSOI The Gynec Onco Doc European Journal of Gynaecological Oncology

PRODIGE-7 trial results have led to a reduction in the use of HIPEC with Oxaliplatin in ColoRectal Peritoneal Metastases (CRPM). Our study evaluates outcomes for CRPM patients undergoing CRS+HIPEC with Oxaliplatin (Ox) 368mg/m2 (30 min), versus Mitomycin C (MMC) 35mg/m2 (90min). Highlights are: 1. Oxaliplatin HIPEC has a significant benefit on peritoneal recurrence-free survival. 2. There is a trend to better overall survival with Oxaliplatin HIPEC in some patients. This suggests that whilst adequately powered Mitomycin HIPEC trials are needed (and one underway), the future of Ox HIPEC is far from decided… Jorge Barriuso The Christie NHS Foundation Trust The University of Manchester The Christie Charity The Christie Colorectal and Peritoneal Oncology Centre The Christie School of Oncology Jonathan Wild Chelliah Selvasekar Raghavendar Nagaraju Cancer Research UK (CRUK) https://lnkd.in/dG9G2Hyq).
