Encountering Jesus with those in prison.
About us
Prison Fellowship® trains and inspires churches and communities—inside and outside of prison—to support the restoration of those affected by incarceration. We equip correctional leaders, volunteers, and incarcerated men and women to make prisons more rehabilitative places; we advocate for a more restorative criminal justice system; and we collaborate with churches and local service providers to support former prisoners, their families, and their communities. Seek justice. Love mercy. Restore hope. Interested in volunteering with us? Please visit our Take Action page: http://bit.ly/356fJE8 ============== Prison Fellowship is a national, nonprofit organization founded in 1976 by former Nixon aide Charles Colson. Colson was incarcerated for Watergate-related charges and could not forget those he had left behind prison walls. He launched Prison Fellowship to give prisoners the opportunity to experience the radically transforming power of Christ that he had already experienced. Some people put their faith in Jesus Christ after hearing a moving sermon, while others are influenced over time by loved ones. Fred came to faith at age 17 after getting high on marijuana in prison. God is known throughout the Bible to meet us in the most unexpected ways. The changes in Fred’s life were instant. He disavowed the gang life and began living for Christ. Prison Fellowship Director of Correctional Programs Tammy Franklin shares an encouraging note from a recently released Prison Fellowship Academy graduate in Oklahoma: “I am doing fabulous. I am at an incredible sober house in Tulsa. I just recently got a job at a thrift shop. I am leaning on the grit I tapped into during Prison Fellowship [Academy]. "I have been supremely blessed with the people He puts in my path on a daily basis. I never lived a healthy lifestyle outside the fence. I am doing that now and thriving at it. I am exactly where God wants me. I am thankful to the Academy for helping me to learn good values that are helping to make me a productive member of society today. The healing I received in that program means I am not stuck in my past. I am truly free to be the best version of me today. Thank you to all those involved with the Academy inside and out. It truly changes lives!”
