About us
The Philanos mission is to accelerate women’s philanthropic giving by providing our affiliates the resources they need to impact their communities. Philanos serves to catalyze the women’s collective giving movement through connecting, learning, and sharing. Philanos is the leading women's giving circle network, with more than 90 affiliates in 27 states, the District of Columbia, England, and Australia. Philanos Affiliates vary by membership and governing models; however they all share one guiding mission: to become informed donors, to practice intentional grant making, and to make a lasting impact in their local communities.

Huge thanks our webinar partner, Fidelity Charitable® Catalyst Fund and our three panelists- Clare O’Brien, Impact 100 Cincinnati Lynne Garfinkel, Moving Mountains Giving Circle Terry Love, Real Engagement through Active Philanthropy (REAP) When asked about what makes #GivingCircles special Clare shared: Philanthropy is risk capital, we can take risks that government and corporations can’t, so we’ve encouraged our women to take some bolder chances on grassroots organizations that are closer to the communities that are served."

It’s Black Philanthropy Month and I want to share my deep appreciation and admiration for the work of the one and only Floyd Jones.Floyd is the founder of #BackBlack, a multi-partner movement to celebrate the long history and impact of Black-led philanthropy and address the chronic, systemic underfunding of Black-led nonprofits. For example, do you know that funders and Donors only contribute 1-2% of funding to Black-led nonprofits? That needs to change. As you can imagine, GlobalGiving has some amazing Black-led nonprofit partners, and we’re so honored to partner with the BackBlack campaign once again!
