The premier business leadership organization working to create a stronger downtown for a better Phoenix

About us

Phoenix Community Alliance (PCA) is the premier leadership organization working to create a stronger downtown for a better Phoenix. PCA is an influential 501(C)3 nonprofit community development organization that has tremendous impact on Greater Downtown Phoenix through the united vision and commitment of its Members. Formed in 1983, when a much smaller Downtown Phoenix was in decline, PCA launched significant public-private partnerships that catalyzed quality new development in the heart of Phoenix, and contributed to our growing urban vitality. As the premier business leadership and advocacy organization dedicated to Greater Downtown, PCA provides engagement opportunities that link key stakeholders, identify synergies across sectors, foster collaboration, and connect key decision makers to resources and potential partners. Today PCA finds the right opportunities for business leaders to collaborate with government and other stakeholders including educational, cultural, research institutions, and emerging industries to build the 21st century city we want. PCA continues to work closely with City of Phoenix elected officials and staff and serves as an effective platform for public/private dialogue on community and economic development issues. And as the membership affiliate of Downtown Phoenix Inc., PCA immediately connects you with all that Downtown Phoenix has to offer. PCA Members have greater access to information and opportunities that directly and positively affect their businesses, bottom lines, and impact in the community.

  • You had to be there for this year's Creative City Symposium! 🎨 🌇 The conversations at last week's event, a yearly collaboration between Phoenix Community Alliance (PCA) and Artlink Phoenix, touched upon the many relevant local art and culture topics in Greater Downtown Phoenix. For a snippet of those dialogues, here are noteworthy quotes from the room spoken by a coterie of featured PCA Members:

  • What's that sound? It's the light rail finally heading south! 🚄 Recently, Valley Metro RPTA commenced track testing on the newly completed two-track system, heading in the north-to-south and east-to-west directions. The new Downtown Hub will serve as a transfer station for the upcoming South Central Extension. In the weeks ahead, if you see a team of transportation specialists closely examining how the light rail is chugging along the Downtown Hub, it means they're testing the lines to ensure a smooth and safe ride for all passengers when it opens in 2025. Enjoy the spectacle, but please observe the safety precautions already in place. 🧠

  • Look to Ability 360 to help navigate an uncertain world! ♿ PCA's Multi-Modal Connectivity Committee toured the Ability 360 facility on Friday to learn what makes their model unique. The Committee's goal was to understand how to strengthen safety within our public realm and transportation network. With a core staff of more than 120 employees, the Ability team is responsible for guiding individuals and families into a new world through their Center for Independent Living, which is only one of three facilities nationwide. Throughout their 45,000-square-foot center, they provide continuum of care programs to acclimate people who are disabled or who recently became disabled. The lived-in experience of the organization's board and staff, half of whom are disabled, helps mentor clients back toward stability and success. Ability 360 provides up to 40 classes in a typical week. Their sports center includes dozens of specially modified wheelchairs for clients who want to retrain for a sport. Elsewhere, they provide a wide range of care, from non-medical home care in Maricopa, Pima, and Pinal Counties to home modification, training, and mentorship services. Their facility was designed for optimal accessibility for those with visible and invisible disabilities in mind. For instance, gym equipment is spaced for ease of usage and different textured flooring assists the visually impaired to safely navigate the center. 💡 Fun Fact: Brandon Ramsey, our Membership Services Director, attended the groundbreaking ceremony for the facility, which recently just celebrated its 13th anniversary! Thank you to the Ability 360 staff for an enlightening tour that further informed the Committee's goals. We are inspired by the perseverance you instill in those who pass through your doors!
