  • We can't help but look back on a special year, one on the many highlights of 2024 was partnering with Northeast Wisconsin Land Trust back in September to bring a group of youth from the Boys and Girls Club and @People of Progression on a photo walk for the 5th annual Land Fest Event, immersing them in nature and photography. Special thanks to Mark Ferrell for making the day unforgettable!! CAREER | ART | COMMUNITY | EDUCATION - the four pillars of Photo Opp’s programming. Three years ago, in October of 2021, Photo Opp had our first board meeting. This last October, we had our second gallery (first in our HQ) and welcomed around 200 people to view works by 21 different artists. Throughout 2024, I have had the opportunity to mentor two high school students at the SolDance Music Festival in Appleton, lead a number of Community Photo Walks, talk to a number of local classrooms about photography, and lead a fun, family-friendly workshop using ice and gels, and continue to meet others in the philanthropic community. It’s really awesome to look back from when we all started this thing and see how far it has come. It feels great to see these things that were just ideas start to materialize and find a community. Stay tuned for even more things coming around in 2025!

  • 🎉 A huge thank-you to the Green Bay Packers Foundation for their incredible support of our Student Camera Kit program! 📸💚 John and Graham had the honor of attending the Packers Give Back Luncheon yesterday, where they connected with other amazing community organizations and celebrated the power of giving back. 🏈✨ Thanks to this generosity, we're able to put cameras in the hands of students, inspiring creativity and fostering new opportunities behind the lens. 🎒📷 Together, we’re building a brighter, more creative community. #PackersGiveBack

So, I haven't shared much about Photo Opp on this platform much if at all... Quick recap, three years ago myself and two of my dear friends and colleagues decided to push forward with an idea we'd been kicking around for a while. We wanted to create a community and education hub based around the art of photography and videography. A place and organization where artists of all ages and experience levels could get together and enjoy the craft together. It's amazing what has DEVELOPED over these last three years. I'm so proud of and happy for this thing that so many people have put time, love and energy into, as shown in this recap of just this last month. We have a big event coming up on October 19th, the gallery opening event for our newest gallery "From Our Streets." It's a showcase of 21 different Wisconsin photographers. We did a blind judged submission process. One of my photos made the cut! Come on out for the event if you can! The gallery will also have open hours after the opening until the end of the year.

  • Each of our programs aim to strengthen our local economy by investing in and uplifting the stories of our community. Photo Opp’s primary programs support our four pillars; EDUCATION, CAREER, COMMUNITY, ARTS. Last month was filled with a lot of photo walking and talking, and we couldn't be happier! A huge thank you to everyone who participated, whether you were behind the camera or supporting from afar. Here's to a bright September! learn more about our programming at https://lnkd.in/g-VZg32U
