Despite affecting nearly 100 million women in the U.S., urinary incontinence (UI) remains underdiagnosed, undertreated and underdiscussed—costing patients and the healthcare system billions each year. As part of a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention grant program, Phreesia is partnering with The National Association For Continence (NAFC), Health. Equity. Outcomes and Christina Escobar, MD to tackle the public health challenge of bladder control issues. When it comes to cancer, preventative screenings are key. Early detection enables patients to live longer, healthier lives and can reduce the need for intensive, expensive treatment. Ideally, every patient would have a primary care provider who ensures that they receive the cancer screenings and other preventive care they need. But with a nationwide provider shortage and pervasive burnout the unfortunate reality is preventive care can fall by the wayside. One way around this challenge is a solution many healthcare organizations are already familiar with: Using technology to improve care. As a healthcare technology company, Phreesia can leverage its intake platform to engage patients at critical moments in their healthcare journey and present them with tailored initiatives and campaigns that encourage them to get the preventive care they need. Our results? In a lung cancer screening campaign, surveyed patients 50-80 years old with a history of smoking were 234% more likely to get screened for lung cancer after seeing the campaign when compared to patients who didn’t see the message. One health system asked more than 87,000 patients about mammogram screenings, and 32% of them requested a mammogram appointment. Bottom line: Cancer prevention is key, and technology can help. We are proud to partner with Dr. Christina Escobar, Health. Equity. Outcomes and The National Association For Continence (NAFC) on a grant program with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention focused on combating the public health challenge of urinary incontinence (UI) in women. Deployed on Phreesia’s platform, the program aims to raise awareness of bladder control issues and empower women to start conversations with their providers about treatment and medical support. This is especially important, as studies have found that only 1 in 4 women with UI ever seek care from a healthcare professional. Follow along as we continue to bring awareness to this important topic and share results from this campaign! To learn more, visit: https://bit.ly/40YEYHU
