November 20 was a busy day at the #Massachusetts Statehouse! In addition to signing The Mass Leads Act, Governor Maura Healey signed into law a #cleanenergy bill designed to streamline the permitting of #Battery #Energy #Storage Systems in #Massachusetts, while also ensuring that the Commonwealth’s commitment to stakeholder participation and #environmentaljustice and labor goals are met. On November 20, #Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey signed The Mass Leads Act, which not only loosens #waterfront #development restrictions to allow for a new soccer stadium, it also protects the integrity of the #permitting process by insulating approved projects from common ex post facto attacks, establishes a new permit regulatory office, adopts #tax exemptions for #datacenters, and promotes “#climatetech.” Firm attorneys Dan Bailey, Paula Devereaux, Kathleen Heyer, Gareth Orsmond, and Douglas Troyer have all the details here: https://lnkd.in/ePCGSrzC

Attention #retailers! As you're ramping up holiday promotions, offering discounts, special sales, and even “free” items, it's easy to unknowingly run afoul of the laws governing promotional pricing — laws that are often less intuitive than they seem. What may appear to be a harmless sales tactic could quickly turn into a deceptive trade practice. Firm attorney Kasey Boucher Pierter explains in this latest alert: https://lnkd.in/eUrAij9B

Employers reclassifying employees as exempt and planning to provide employees with regular salary increases to keep pace with inflation, are seemingly off the hook. The Eastern District of Texas struck down the Fair Labor Standards Act, determining that the FLSA loosely defines the white collar exemptions solely in terms of job duties, and not with respect to any minimum salary level. This nationwide ruling takes effect immediately. Firm employment law partners Peter Hale, Suzanne King, Katy Rand, and Daniel Strader have the details here: https://lnkd.in/ewsDyuSb
