Great discussion with Richard Stiennon yesterday. He showed me around the IT-Harvest Analyst Dashboard; quite impressive. It provides unique insights beyond funding, specifically around product comparison and start-up health. I've been frustrated with data from the likes of Crunchbase and Pitchbook. Just seems like there's a lack of attention to detail in cybersecurity classifications. Very glad to see a group like IT Harvest with their eye on the ball. While we share basic funding data for free at Pinpoint, if you need deeper insights, I highly recommend giving Richard's platform a look.

Cybersecurity vendors raised $675.5 MILLION over 20 rounds in October. Some comparative data below. ◾ The $675.5 Million raised in October 2024 represents a nominal 3% increase in funding raised when compared to October 2023. ◾ 20 funding rounds were tracked in October ’24 compared to 28 in October, ’23. ◾ Early-stage funding (Seed, Series-A) represents 50% of all October 2024 funding rounds recorded. ◾ Armis’ $200M raise accounted for ~30% of all October funding dollars. ◾ YTD vendors raised $8.5 Billion, a 9% increase over the same period in 2023.

It was brought to my attention that Crunchbase recently reported a 51% drop in cybersecurity funding between Q2 and Q3 of this year. Very different results when comparing our research, so I dug in. The biggest delta was Crunchbase's recording of $4.3 Billion raised in Q2 v the $3.3 Billion we recorded. The main differentiator looks to be that Crunchbase is including observability and data management / backup vendors while we do not. Our data is focused on 100% pureplay cyber vendors.
