What is True Cost Accounting (TCA) ? 🌍 Understanding the true impact of our food choices is essential for creating a sustainable future. True Cost Accounting (TCA) provides a comprehensive approach to analyze these impacts from environmental, socio-economic, and health perspectives. 📊 TCA holistically assesses externalities across different supply chain scenarios, identifying strategies to reduce hidden costs that conventional methods often overlook. Unlike traditional approaches, TCA considers the full picture, such as the consequences of extensive fertiliser use on human health and the environment. 🍽️ For the first time, TCA will be applied to diets, uncovering significant but unaccounted impacts on natural, social, and human capitals. This shift is crucial for moving towards sustainable, healthy, and cost-effective diets. 🌱 By enabling policymakers to compare and understand various health, social, and sustainability issues, TCA highlights priority areas for intervention and identifies pathways for transformational change in government, business, farming, and consumer contexts. Watch the video to learn more about how TCA can shape the future of our food systems! 🎥 TMG Research gGmbH - TMG Think Tank for Sustainability 👉🏼 Find out more: https://lnkd.in/eugqVAGM #TrueCostAccounting #SustainableDiets #FoodSystems #EnvironmentalImpact #SocioEconomicImpact #HealthImpact #PolicyMaking #SustainableFuture #PlanEat

🚨 The first Food Policy Summits have begun! 🚨 #PLAN’EAT is proud to coordinate the organization of Food Policy Summits in 9 countries, designed to identify effective interventions that promote healthy and sustainable eating. 🌱 🌳 Our goal? To transform the EU food system to better support people in making healthy, sustainable food choices. 💧 Did you know? Previous research has already led to actionable recommendations, such as switching to tap water instead of sugary soft drinks. 👫 The next step is hosting 9 summits across the EU, bringing together citizens and policymakers to discuss: What needs to be done to achieve these goals? 🧠 These summits use creative, interactive exercises to encourage participants to share ideas and learn from one another. By building consensus, we aim to find solutions that are widely supported. ⛳️ The results will culminate in a Pan-European Policy Lab, where input from all 9 countries will be combined to create tailored recommendations that respect Europe’s diverse cultures, habits, and preferences. 🌈This is how #PLAN’EAT works toward a healthier, more sustainable future for everyone. 🌍 Stay tuned for updates on this exciting journey! #FoodPolicy #SustainableFood #HealthyEating #PlanEat #EUFoodSystem #Collaboration

Exploring Diabetes: Type 1 vs. Type 2 🍏💉 Misknowledges between type 1 and type 2 diabetes lead to widespread misunderstandings. 🔎 Let's unpack these myths and shed light on the real distinctions between these two common conditions. 🧬 Diabetes is a prevalent health condition with two primary types: 1️⃣ Type 1, often diagnosed in youth, is primarily genetic, resulting from an autoimmune attack on insulin-producing cells. 2️⃣ Type 2, more observed in adults, is often linked to lifestyle factors such as an unhealthy diet and lack of exercise. What is insulin? 👉 It is an essential hormone that helps your body use glucose for energy and regulate blood sugar levels. 📌Swipe to know more ▶ #DiabetesAwareness #Type1vsType2 #HealthyLiving
