When was the last time you worked with a Plasser American DYNACAT? The latest version of these high-powered tamping machines offer 2-tie tamping units, which enable either two ties to be tamped in one operation resulting in higher tamping performance, or only one tie in case the tie spacing becomes irregular or the machine must work on track sections with skewed ties. EPA awards $347M grant to PANYNJ for sustainability efforts “The funding will support the port's transition to more environmentally sustainable operations and collaborations with partners in communities around the port facilities. Most of the funding, $344 million, will support PANYNJ and port operational partners to intensify sustainability efforts.” Here at Plasser American, we love seeing organizations being rewarded for their sustainability efforts! William Koob is currently a Quality Assurance Engineer in the Quality Management Department of the company. He joined Plasser American in 2021 after graduating from Old Dominion University (ODU), initially working as a Pneumatic Technician on the production line, where he demonstrated his skills and capabilities. In 2022, William joined the Quality Control Inspection team, contributing directly to the quality control of the company’s hydraulic and pneumatic systems for dozens of manufactured machines. Since 2023, he has been promoted to Quality Assurance Engineer, where he collaborates with the Engineering, Production, and Project Management teams to create final inspection checklists and continuously improve quality based on customer feedback. This year, we had the privilege of hosting our two-day annual strategy retreat in Richmond, Virginia, in collaboration with Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU). It was a remarkable opportunity to bring together leaders from across our organization to take the next step in our company’s journey. As we transition from our first five-year strategic plan, the retreat focused on developing our product and service portfolio and enhancing our structure to support sustainable growth. The market has widely embraced our transformation, and the foundation we’ve built serves as a testament to the collective commitment and dedication of our entire team. This year, we’re setting our sights on refining that foundation and ensuring that our transformation remains sustainable. What made this retreat particularly special was the inclusivity of the process. We invited as many leaders as feasible to contribute, recognizing that each voice in our organization adds value to our shared vision. Together, we tackled key topics around our next maturity phase: optimizing our internal structure, streamlining processes, and enhancing our portfolio to ensure we continue delivering exceptional value to our customers and partners. The collaborative environment fostered by VCU’s engagement was invaluable. Their guidance helped enrich our discussions, allowing us to approach challenges with innovative solutions. We appreciative the partnership, which brought fresh insights that will undoubtedly shape our future. Moving forward, we are committed to this refined approach, one that keeps our team engaged and empowered and aligns with the long-term needs of our customers.
