Platinum Heritage: Niessing 's 150 Years of Designs and Innovations 2023 was an important year for the renowned German jewellery brand Niessing as they celebrate a remarkable 150-year legacy. Founded in 1873, Niessing has long been at the forefront of jewelry innovation, with a particular expertise in working with precious metals, and without using casting in their production process. Each piece of jewellery was crafted or machined to perfection.  Over the decades, the brand created many amazing iconic designs, including the signature tension setting ring, that was made possible by platinum's unique metal properties.  Niessing's master craftsmen continue to push the boundaries of what's possible with platinum, creating designs that marry timeless sophistication with dynamic modern flair. Ask Kathrin: Best tools when working with platinum It‘s been more than a year since we have caught up with Kathrin Schoenke! Picking up from our last conversation, we received a lot of inquiry about what best tools to use when working with platinum (and we commonly see a lot of problematic tools lying around various workshops). For example, it is highly recommended that we remove stainless steel from our tools, and use tungsten tipped instead.
