What an amazing opportunity for our President, Emma Belcher, to continue field building and raise much-needed awareness to the perils of nuclear weapons development, testing, and use at the #MunichSecurityConference
I was honored to recently attend the #MunichSecurityConference for the first time - an undeniably influential gathering where speeches are made, signals are given, and action follows. Hearing President Zelenskyy speak was a standout moment. His ability to balance the weight of war with humor and find moments of joy even in hardship was both uplifting and powerful. Highlights included: Engaging with global leaders from governments and civil society on both the current landscape and a more expansive definition of security. Convening, with Mary Robinson of The Elders and many of the growing number of women leaders within the nuclear field to explore how a global women’s network can shift power dynamics, shape nuclear policy, and integrate nuclear issues into broader security and justice frameworks. Throughout the conference, I saw the interconnection between traditional security concerns and a growing dialogue centered on human rights and justice, pushing the boundaries of what security means. It’s a reminder of the need for engagement, expansive thinking, and testing of assumptions to best respond to an ever-changing world. I’m grateful to leave #MSC with new insights, meaningful connections, and a strengthened commitment to a future free from nuclear threats.
