Worker protections in Chicago grew stronger between 2017 and 2023, following a national trend.  A pilot study by Betsy Porter, a clinical assistant professor at University of Illinois Chicago (UIC) School of Public Health and Policy, Practice and Prevention Research Center (P3RC) seed funding recipient, compares variations in novel worker protections (e.g., secure scheduling and protections for "gig” workers) between overlapping cities and counties across the U.S.  Read the research brief here: https://bit.ly/3ZiSdRx

Based on findings from a P3RC evaluation study led by Elizabeth Jarpe-Ratner, PhD, MPH, MST and authored by Kristen Belcher, CPS has changed the name of its pre-k to 5th grade comprehensive sexual health education (SHE) program to Personal Health & Safety Education. Gender and Sexuality Alliances (GSAs) provide proven benefits to LGBTQ+ students in schools.
