🤔 should I look for a new job or not? just heard an amazing idea in this class I was taking. When is it a good time to make decisions and when is it a bad time to make decisions? ⚖ The spiritual leader said, “If your alarm goes off in the morning and you hit it off, is that the time you want to make a decision whether you should get out of bed or not? You are all snuggled and warm under the covers, the cold morning and floor await you. I think I will stay right here!” I love what he says next. He continues, “Get up out of bed, get dressed, walk around and then check in with yourself. If you are still too tired and can’t perform well or continue on in a good state and you really need to sleep, get undressed and get back into bed.” 🛌 What profound wisdom. I think we often make decisions from a heavily comfortable and biased place. I see this often with people when it comes to their career. They haven’t interviewed in years…they can’t even begin to imagine another opportunity or if something could be better. You know the saying, the grass is only greener on the other side. First and foremost, the grass is only greener where you water it. Meaning, first do an honest introspection and see if you are grateful for your current job, and if you have/do put in the effort and love needed. If you have, and you still have needs/values that are not meant. Then the grass is greener on the other side. And don’t make a decision from your comfortable, possibly overly safe, and familiar job. GO OUT AND INTERVIEW. 💼 Put yourself out there. New year. New you. Going through the interview process helps give you clarity. Don’t just make decisions from stagnation. 😊 #healthcarerecruitment #leadershiphiring #healthcarerecruiting #healthcareleadership #healthcarestaffing #recruitmentindustry #recruitmentjobs #registerednurse #nursing #nursingleadership #talentacquisition #recruitment #rn #nurses #hospital

☝ Why you should never negotiate on salary Negotiate your career. 🤝 You go in and ask for a higher salary, you are essentially saying, “I want to get paid more to do the same amount of work.” How does that sound to the boss? 🤔 Salary pays your bills, it doesn’t pay your career. Walk into the boss’ office and say, “How can I be guaranteed to be involved in projects that are critical to our strategic future.” It is ALWAYS different projects, programs, etc that define the company's success….especially when you work in leadership. 👩⚕️ Your ability to ask and find places that put you in a position to play a vital role in the growth will make it easier for them to see the results from your impact as well as the commitment you are making to the company and the project(s). Negotiate based on your career, on the direction you want it to go, what you want to be involved with and challenged with that help the growth of the company. 😊 #healthcarerecruitment #leadershiphiring #healthcarerecruiting #healthcareleadership #healthcarestaffing #recruitmentindustry #recruitmentjobs #registerednurse #nursing #nursingleadership #talentacquisition #recruitment #rn #nurses #hospital

👨💼 why you must have a local recruiter working for you Because they cast you out. What does that mean? 🤔 I just connect with a Behavioral Health Unit Admin that has been out of work the last 2 years (taking care of a sick parent) and ready to hop back in, but no one will look at her because she hasn’t worked the last 2 years. This is ridiculous, I know. I took a sabbatical from recruiting for 3 years, when I came back….I think I was better! Haha I sent out 5 emails, 3 texts, and 4 phone calls to CNO’s and HR leaders I know locally to her. Dangling her out like bait; bragging about her experience, the problems she solves, and how she will make your hospital and life all around better. And guess what? A CNO I have known for 15 years, just ended up at a hospital close to her house and is looking for an Admin, someone strong, and ready to hop in. I can’t wait to see what happens! 🤩 A savvy, well connected, and relentless recruiter can open up jobs for you that might not be on the market (and they don’t need to share your name either if you are concerned about it getting back to your employer). They can plant a seed with a hiring manager for you that may sprout years later. 🌱 Make sure your recruiter knows that you are open, and what you would be interested in. 📩📩 Heck, I have leaders that tell me, “Brian, if anything ever opened up at this hospital, I would be on it! Even if it is a step down.” That gives me the green light to start to dangle them out, fish around, and plant some seeds. Have someone that is looking out for you, it could be the difference between opening up the best move for your career vs staying stuck. 😉 Happy Thanksgiving! 🦃 #healthcarerecruitment #leadershiphiring #healthcarerecruiting #healthcareleadership #healthcarestaffing #recruitmentindustry #recruitmentjobs #registerednurse #nursing #nursingleadership #talentacquisition #recruitment #rn #nurses #hospital

A mentor of mine (Elan Carr) was asked, “What business are you in?” and he replied, “The relationship business.” 😊 If Elan asked you to do something, you did it. If Elan had an opportunity to work with him on something or be beside him, you jumped. Unfortunately, recruitment today has become bombarding strangers with messages, posting jobs to the ether, hiring people not from referrals, and anything and everything in between that scream “NO RELATIONSHIP.” ❌ 80% or more of my business for 13 years has come from repeat candidates or referrals from my close network. The best investment you can make in your career (alongside yourself), is in cultivating healthy, productive, and growth-oriented relationships. The top 3 question you should ask a leader when hiring them is, “Who can you bring with you?” That is a pretty damn good litmus test to find out not only how respected they are, but what value they can bring to your org…. because value comes from people. Location, location, location in Real Estate. Talent, talent, talent in recruitment/business success/quality patient care. Keeping up your relationships cannot be overstated. Have you tried calling everyone you ever worked with that can fill that role you have open, or who at least may know someone? Do this. ✅ This is what I do. It is not rocket science. 80% of my day is spent following up, having conversations, and asking for referrals; basically cultivating my market. 💼 What relationships can you cultivate more of? Who can you reach out to? #healthcarerecruitment #leadershiphiring #healthcarerecruiting #healthcareleadership #healthcarestaffing #recruitmentindustry #recruitmentjobs #registerednurse #nursing #nursingleadership #talentacquisition #recruitment #rn #nurses #hospital

🙅♂️ Here’s why you don’t fire people on a Friday It's not just about timing - it's about humanity Picture this: It's Friday afternoon. The office is winding down, weekend plans are being shared, and there's that person, sitting in their chair, who just received life-changing news. No resources. No immediate next steps. Just 48 hours of isolation with their thoughts. Monday firings are actually an act of compassion. Think about it like a safety net vs. a free fall. When you let someone go on a Monday: They can immediately start job hunting 💻 They can reach out to their network 🌐 They can schedule interviews 🗣 They have access to HR for questions 📝 They can begin processing with purpose, not just pain 🚶♂️ But Friday? That's like drawing an invisible line around someone's hope. Leadership isn't just about making tough decisions - it's about making them in a way that preserves dignity and provides opportunity. Just as we help our teams break through limiting beliefs, we must ensure our difficult decisions don't create unnecessary barriers for those transitioning out. What invisible lines are we drawing around our tough decisions? Are we truly considering the human impact of our timing? Remember: Boundaries in business are necessary, but unnecessary suffering isn't. I used to believe it was best to let people go on a Friday, but this changed my mind! This is a fascinating clip and I believe it is valuable for our own growth and how we as leaders develop our staff. https://lnkd.in/dCKM9fFF Have you ever seen that video that's got millions of views on YouTube? 🤔 They get an ant on a piece of paper and the guy with a biro draws a circle around the ant and the ant runs to the edge of the circle and believes it's trapped and it will not cross that line. Looking down on it from a bird's eye view, you go, oh, no, it's just a figment of its imagination. They do the same with a spider. They draw a circle around it with a biro. It will not cross that line. As the guy's drawing the circle smaller and smaller, he accidentally draws it so close to the spider that the spider steps over the biro and then it can never be trapped by the biro again. And you watch it just run off the page and he's trying to trap it again. But it can never because it realizes that's just a wall it's built in its mind. 🧠 Leadership I believe is helping your employees cross those lines. 😊 Just like the 4 minute mile and how breaking glass ceilings opens us up to endless possibilities. What lines have you possibly created for your employees? Boundaries can be healthy, but also sabotaging. What lines have they drawn for themselves? Can you help them smash these limiting beliefs. #healthcarerecruitment #leadershiphiring #healthcarerecruiting #healthcareleadership #healthcarestaffing #recruitmentindustry #recruitmentjobs #registerednurse #nursing #nursingleadership #talentacquisition #recruitment #rn #nurses #hospital

😞 I am sorry. I have been lazy. For 20 years I have made a living working on the phone. For the last 13 years I have been blessed to help hundreds of hospital leaders get jobs by simply making calls. My former boss used to say, “feed the machine.” She would holler “it is all about the touches, don’t rely on email and social media, reach out to people, build the relationship. This is where the magic happens. Don't be lazy like your competition.” ☝ I am reflecting on this year and remembering so many people I have neglected to reach out to for 6 months or more. I AM SORRY. You are the reason I love doing what I do. You are the reason I get sooo many referrals and have relied on my relationships for over a decade. I am putting this out there as an apology, for social pressure to hold myself accountable, and to possibly encourage you to get on the phone and call the people you may have forgotten that are actually the lifeblood of your business (or personal life)! 🙏 #healthcarerecruitment #leadershiphiring #healthcarerecruiting #healthcareleadership #healthcarestaffing #recruitmentindustry #recruitmentjobs #registerednurse #nursing #nursingleadership #talentacquisition #recruitment #rn #nurses #hospital

🗣 interview candidates who want 50k more than you’ll pay After 13 years of recruitment, I can tell you, “I have almost seen it all!” 👁 What I have seen numerous times are candidates who say they will only take a job for a certain amount, and then when all is said and done I have seen them take $50,000 less! Why is this? 🤔 Maybe they are playing hard ball. Maybe they think the cost of living, etc is going to be much higher. Maybe their financial situation changes from the time the interview process begins/negotiations takes place. Maybe, they just fall in love with the opportunity and are willing to come down. This last one is the one I bank on. My mentor taught me, “the goal of this business is to GET PEOPLE TOGETHER. We are simply match makers. We will facilitate that process, whether they are a fit or not is up to GOD! Don’t play GOD!” She is so right. 💡 This isn’t a perfect method or philosophy; it won’t guarantee results every time and you may waste your time here and there. But, if you don’t have a conversation, if you don’t go though the process, if you don’t see it through you never know. 😊 #healthcarerecruitment #leadershiphiring #healthcarerecruiting #healthcareleadership #healthcarestaffing #recruitmentindustry #recruitmentjobs #registerednurse #nursing #nursingleadership #talentacquisition #recruitment #rn #nurses #hospital
