About us

Located in Brazoria County, Texas, Port Freeport is an independent governmental body authorized by an act of the Texas Legislature in 1925. The Port is governed by a board of six commissioners that each serve six-year staggered terms. The Commissioners are elected by the districts’ voters, and our district encompasses 85% of Brazoria County. Port Freeport is located approximately 65 miles south of downtown Houston, Texas and is accessible via State Highway 36, and Highway 288.

  • 13th ANNUAL PORT FREEPORT GOLF TOURNAMENT RAISES FUNDS FOR TEXAS PORT MINISTRY At the December 19th meeting, Port Freeport’s Commission and staff proudly presented a donation of $85,000 raised through the 13th Annual Port Freeport Golf Tournament, to Chris Moore, Director of Texas Port Ministry (TPM).     Speaker Spotlight ⭐️ Phyllis Saathoff is an accomplished executive with over 30 years of service in the port industry. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting, from the University of Houston-Clear Lake, is a certified public accountant and a certified Professional Port Manager. Phyllis began her maritime career at Port Freeport in 1992 serving as Managing Director and Interim Executive Port Director/CEO before joining the Port of Houston Authority executive team in October 2012. Phyllis returned to Port Freeport in April 2016 as the Chief Executive Officer. Port Freeport is a leading port in the export of crude oil and natural gas liquids and ranks nationally as 6th in chemicals, 15th in total foreign waterborne tonnage, and 26th in containers.
