🦋 Datastores Revamp: When spinning up new RDS databases, users have way more flexibility: more options for resources, storage size, Postgres version, and the ability to choose database and user names. 👭 Aurora Fast Clones for Preview Environments: AWS Aurora Fast Cloning can be used to instantly spin up preview environments with a database that mirrors production data. 🏝️ Non-HA Aurora Clusters: Users can use single-instance Aurora clusters to reduce costs where high availability isn't critical.

Why does Carry use Porter instead of hiring a full-time DevOps engineer? Later-stage companies generally need full-fledged, in-house DevOps teams to manage the complexity of their infrastructure. But for many startups, dedicating capital and engineering bandwidth to infra management doesn't make sense when their primary focus should be on shipping product. Porter allows startups like Carry to have production-grade infrastructure out of the box with minimal DevOps overhead.

🏦 Cost Explorer Tab (Beta): Users can now visualize AWS compute costs by cluster, app, and service. 🧑🤝🧑 Aurora Fast Cloning: Users can quickly and cost-effectively create a copy-on-write clone of Aurora databases. 👷♀️ Improved Docker Build Times: We’ve added functionality for caching every stage of Docker builds, resulting in up to a >25x improvement in build times. 💸 Cheapest AWS GPU: The least expensive GPU instance available on AWS, the g5g.xlarge instance, is now available via Porter!

How did Govly migrate from GCP to AWS in a day? Normally, to migrate across cloud providers, you'd have to: - Containerize your apps for portability - Write IaC like Terraform to provision infra resources, handle integration, and balance load - Set up a K8s cluster (allowing you to launch, operate, monitor, shut down, and restart containers and nodes) - Install components that handle operations like networking, monitoring, logging, and certificate management in the cluster to be prod-ready - Write helm charts to package and configure applications on K8s Instead of this months-long process, all Govly had to do on Porter was choose AWS as their new cloud provider, provision a new cluster, and deploy their apps.
