Power of Polo; Utilising polo as a sport for change.

About us

Empowering and Challenging. Power of Polo is a unique grassroots charity. Our mission is to positively impact the lives of people facing social, economic or health challenges, utilising the sport of polo. Our strapline ‘change your line’ refers to how this sport can help participants change the direction of their life and is taken from the most important rule of the game: the line of the ball. Power of Polo’s model is one of partnership, collaboration and facilitation. Many polo clubs are keen to provide charitable programmes but do not have the necessary infrastructure needed. We provide this support by bringing together charities, polo clubs and other relevant organisations, building programmes to help and support people from a range of backgrounds to change their lines – and their lives – through the sport that we love. Set up in 2015, the charity has already reached hundreds of participants, from ages 12-70, and worked with partners and participants from all walks of life. We run both day and residential activities with our partner clubs and charities, at which our participants learn the basics of horsemanship, polo, teamwork and life skills, while crucially enjoying respite and fun. We have built youth leader positions within our courses as an opportunity for young people to develop skills which can help them towards their careers in the future, and have many wonderful success stories to tell, of which we are incredibly proud. The benefits of equine assisted activities are now globally recognised but access to horses is severely limited for many parts of society. Our aim is to ensure the sport of polo can play its part in changing this, and that we can be a catalyst for change.
