The contact angle of water on a surface is very sensitive to surface contamination. The polar nature of a clean metal surface causes water to spread out (low contact angle). A small amount of oily contamination will cause water to bead up (high contact angle). This is a very versatile tool to test surfaces prior to coating, bonding, or sealing. Barbara and Ed Kanegsberg and I (Darren Williams) love to demonstrate this at our trainings and workshops (as shown in this image).

At “Open Mike Nite on Precision Cleaning,” the next Product Quality Cleaning Workshops (PQCW) sponsored webinar, Mike Moussourakis, from Alconox Inc. and Mike Valenti, from Hubbard-Hall Inc. team address your cleaning problems. For example, safely and effectively cleaning aluminum and other lightweight metals is a perennial challenge for high technology manufacturing ranging from automotive to in food safety. The program is informal. This means minimal PowerPoint, lots of ideas, interchange, and opportunities to address your problems. The best solution might be aqueous. For some applications, it might be solvent. Maybe both! The program is on December 12, 2024 at 10:30 A.M. Central time. It’s free, but you have to register. Bring your questions and concerns. One or both Mikes will help you. https://lnkd.in/g9Ux7B2W

Many effective degreasing solvents are becoming so regulated that using them is a hassle. You’ve heard about the alternative cleaning agents; now learn about using them successfully in the appropriate cleaning equipment. At the next Product Quality Cleaning Workshops webinar Olaf Tessarzyk of JCOM will explain how manufacturers can successfully clean product without heavily-regulated solvents. Find your optimal technology – solvents, aqueous, or a combination of the two. He will discuss design and costs of cleaning equipment. He will also cover process steps, testing at their Carlsbad CA facility, and case studies. PQCW instructors Darren Williams, Ed Kanegsberg, and I will discuss the benefits of various cleaning options with Olaf. Register for the July 18th webinar; bring your questions. Set your mind at ease. https://lnkd.in/g3AdAqif #precisioncleaning #criticalcleaning #surfacefinishing #solvent #aqueous #manfacturing

Navigating Solvent Regulations: A Reality Round Table on Future-Proofing Strategies Register Here: https://lnkd.in/gpJe5RRe Description In a landscape marked by evolving solvent regulations, industries face a crucial juncture where compliance meets sustainability and economic viability. Join us for a dynamic webinar featuring a round table discussion with four esteemed thought leaders at the forefront of solvent management. Together, we’ll delve into the complexities of challenges and opportunities as we explore the intersection of economic, environmental, and logistical factors shaping the landscape of solvent regulations. With the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) tightening its grip on solvent usage, the possibility of companies relocating outside the United States looms large. Our panel of experts will dissect this scenario, offering insights into potential ramifications and proactive strategies to mitigate risks. Amidst tightening budgets and the demand for innovation, the issue of affordability looms large. What options do companies have if investment in new machinery seems prohibitive? Our round table will provide practical advice and innovative solutions to navigate this dilemma, ensuring compliance without compromising competitiveness. Furthermore, the discussion will cover the viability of aqueous cleaning as a sustainable alternative amidst shifting regulatory paradigms. Our panel will assess the efficacy, feasibility, and long-term implications of embracing aqueous cleaning technologies, providing attendees with actionable insights to future-proof their operations. Together, let’s chart a course towards sustainable and compliant practices that transcend regulatory uncertainties, ensuring a resilient future for industries worldwide. The PQCW Team thanks Hubbard-Hall for sponsoring this webinar.
