PreAct Technologies delivers the world’s first software-definable flash LiDAR sensors. Affordable, compact and designed to function in a variety of use cases, PreAct’s sensors offer solutions in industries including automotive, trucking, robotics, healthcare, agriculture, smart cities and industrial applications.
Currently the company develops and sells complete systems that are packaged as products addressing distinct markets. Each product consists of a flash LiDAR (3D camera), edge processing, and communications to an external platform such as a laptop or the company’s cloud service. A software development kit (SDK) is included that supports users to visualize the data in real time, store data, and work with it using either their own code or specialized tools provided by the company. One unique aspect of the SDK is that it includes an AI development platform that has been optimized for the sensor’s 3D output, thus enabling AI algorithms to be quickly developed with minimal training. The SDK can control the sensor directly and serves as the gateway to the company’s cloud service controlling software defined features and providing a data structure supporting AI training and data mining.
Initially renowned for their work in the automotive industry, PreAct’s innovative technology was first inspired by their goal to save the millions of lives lost in automotive crashes each year. This mission-focus drove the development of the extraordinary speed and accuracy of PreAct’s near-field sensor systems.
Founded in 2018, PreAct arose from more than 15 years of DARPA-funded research in high-speed optics and computing systems and a major investment from Artis Corporation, the leading US provider of active protection systems for the military. PreAct is led by seasoned experts with the engineering team composed of leaders in computer vision, optics, and parallel processing. The company is headquartered in Portland, Oregon, USA.
