I am so proud to share that my bill The Stop Institutional Child Abuse Act passed the U.S Senate unanimously today!! All 100 Senators stood for protecting children in youth residential treatment facilities and I couldn't have dreamed of a more powerful moment to be able to impact the system that harmed me. I am still in shock that my lived-experience, among the powerful survivor community, has been able to impact meaningful progress and change for the next generation of survivors. We still need this bill to get passed in the U.S House of Representatives to be signed by President Biden but WE ARE SO CLOSE! I am so grateful for the leadership of Senator Schumer who has supported my initiative from the beginning, and to my bill sponsors Senator Jeff Merkley and Senator John Cornyn who I have had the honor to get to know personally and who have been the most dedicated, efficient, and collaborative bipartisan lawmakers. I am so lucky to have met you and to have worked with you on this! #SICAA #TTI #ISeeYouSurvivor

Lauren’s journey with PCA America began during her time at Marquette University, where she joined the Kappa Delta sorority—long time partners of PCA America. Through KD fundraising events like their signature Shamrock Shuffle and the 5k Glow Run, she was inspired to stay involved. She learned about joining PCA America’s Associate Board through the Kappa Delta City of Chicago Alumnae Chapter. Since joining, Lauren has connected her workplace, Stack Adapt, to host an employee holiday giving campaign and raise awareness of PCA America’s mission. Lauren’s dedication is deeply personal—prevention work is close to her heart because the men in her life have been affected by abuse. She uses her voice to inspire others, including reconnecting with a childhood friend who was drawn to her posts about the organization. Thank you, Lauren, for your passion and commitment to PCA America’s mission!

Eliminating child abuse in America is within our reach — the key is supporting families before a crisis ever occurs. We’re so grateful to you, the National Football League (NFL) and all the players who championed meaningful causes this year.
