Why apply for the Factor Fellowship? Let’s answer some of your common questions: About the Factor Fellowship: The Factor Fellowship is a part-time fellowship program that matches top talent to job opportunities in the NYC innovation economy. The Fellowship was designed by a coalition of leading venture capital firms and fast-growing startups led by Primary Venture Partners. ❓: Why should I apply for the Factor Fellowship? A: The Factor Fellowship is an opportunity for you to explore a new career in the startup space. Our goal is to demystify the often opaque and insular world of venture-backed startups. The program will provide exposure to startup culture, training and mentorship from tech leaders, skill development, and career coaching. You’ll join a network of top talent and build your network while accessing jobs at venture-backed startups. ❓: How much does it cost? A: It’s 100% free for participants! ❓: What does the application process entail? A: The first round, due December 15, asks for your contact information, your resume, and two brief (<3 minute) videos in response to two prompts. The second round is an in-depth written questionnaire, followed by a live interview with a member of the Factor team. The final round consists of a group working session followed by an individual presentation to a panel of leading VCs and startup operators in mid-February. Selected Fellows will be notified by early March. ❓: What is the time commitment of the Factor Fellowship? A: The Fellowship is an 18-week part-time program that requires participants to dedicate 4 to 6 hours per week to in-person program activities. Programming takes place in NYC on nights and weekends from mid-March to early July. ❓: Where can I learn more? Sign up for one of our upcoming info sessions, or reach us at info@factornyc.org! Last week, we had three amazing Midas list investors — Jeremy Levine, Tom Loverro, and Annie Lamont — speak with the Primary Venture Partners team about their careers, how they approach investing, and their view on the venture market today. Across each conversation there were some common themes that resonated for me... 1. There are so many different ways to do this job. Be confident in what is right for you and don't try to conform to others' styles if it isn't natural. 2. Founders who can take complex topics and make them simple enough for anyone to understand always stand out. Many of the most successful founders in their portfolio execute on this task at a high level. 3. The market is more competitive than ever. Even these three Midas listers do not rest on their laurels and constantly think about how to ensure they win every deal that they want to.

They say you need 10,000 hours of practice before you can become an outlier. 10,000 hours = 4 years of work I had a hunch venture capital was different. Here are 3 people who made career defining investments before they hit the 10,000 hr mark on the VC side according to their linkedin information and pitchbook data
