We're delighted to announce that our idea, Mapping Justice: The Equitable Geospatial Ecosystem, has been selected to be on the 2024 Skyway Participatory Budget Ballot! This project will offer free community mapping workshops and paid training for youth and young adults ages 16 -25 in Skyway, and will equip Skyway residents with essential mapping and data (GIS) skills, driving technology-based social change and promote equity and justice. If you are 12 years or older, live, work, or worship in the Skyway/Westhill area you're eligible to vote, no ID or citizenship is required. 🌟 Exciting News from PEARi! 🌟 A huge shout-out to Annie Zhou for creating an incredible #StoryMap of our PEARi Fellows program! 🗺️ The PEARi Fellows program is our Workforce Development Equitable Ecosystem at the Pro-Equity Anti-Racism Institute (PEARi). Our mission? To provide an ecosystem of successful approaches that increase the ability to undo Racism and other systems of oppression. 🌍💡 🎯 Focused on driving equity where it's needed most, our program is a beacon of hope and opportunity, especially for young adults in BIPOC communities. We're not just bridging the gap – we're closing it. 💼 What sets our program apart? Comprehensive Learning: Our fellows dive into an immersive experience, developing crucial soft skills and technical capabilities in areas like communication, teamwork, positive intelligence, design, multimedia, GIS, and project management. Remote Learning Model: We embrace flexibility and accessibility, allowing participants to balance their professional growth with personal life seamlessly. Mentorship and Real-World Experience: Our fellows gain hands-on experience, mentored by leaders and exposed to real-world challenges, all within a remote agile team setting. Positive Intelligence: A key component of our program focuses on mental fitness and resilience, fostering a positive mindset essential for today's dynamic world. 🌱 Our holistic approach nurtures both personal and professional growth, empowering our participants to drive for Pro-Equity Anti-Racism actions and outcomes.
