Often, when I tell people how much I travel for work, they say, “That sounds exhausting.” Or “You must not like your home very much!” And “What about work-life balance?” Truth is, it IS exhausting, and I LOVE being at home. I also love seeing new places, meeting amazing people, and visiting with old friends. Balance is a moving target. Simply put, I chose this life, and wherever I am at the moment, I am grateful to be there. #travel #hospitality #worklifebalance

Doing something new is often a scary proposition. For years, I have wanted to speak on a TEDx stage, and made it a goal of mine...in the future... True story: When I was a young waiter in NYC, I would run to work (usually late) to a luxury hotel on 5th Avenue across from the Metropolitan Museum of Art. On the way, I would pass by Keith Herring’s original graffiti art he painted on a boarded up storefront. The building I worked in was the site where the musician Charlie Parker died, and Basquiat would occasionally be wined and dined by fancy art agents. I would stare at the museum, wishing I had the day off to linger among the giants of the art world. Today, I had time to visit the Broad Museum where I admired Herring’s work and Basquiat’s portrait of Parker. I thought, “Hello there old friends, glad to see we are together again.” PS- Down the street, an abandoned apartment complex has been covered in graffiti tags. I wonder if there is a future artist in that group? #fullcircle
