Increasing conversion AND effectiveness: how Milk-Bone won the hearts of dog lovers Milk-Bone wanted to attract new-to-brand buyers at Walmart while avoiding ad waste. This required real-time campaign optimization based on fluctuating prices and availability for both their products, and competitors' products. Profitero's Shelf Intelligent Media algorithm accounted for these fluctuations and made millions of bid adjustments on Walmart's DSP down to the zip code level. Milk-bone was able to increase ROAs by ✨54% ✨and double new-to-brand sales, all while minimizing ad waste.

Amazon leads all German online retailers, offering prices that averaged 15% lower than competitors, according to Profitero's 2024 Price Wars report. The Profitero study, now in its third year, analyzed over 10,300 items across 15 categories at nine leading German retailers. With holiday spending in Germany expected to reach €125 billion, the fight for consumer wallets is heating up online. Key Takeaways: 💡Tug-of-war in toys: Toys and games remained fiercely competitive, with Media Markt, Otto and Saturn keeping prices within 10% of Amazon’s. Saturn and Media Markt were also just 6% more expensive than Amazon on appliances. 💡Beauty price gap widens: DM, Kaufland, Rossmann, and Zalando grew pricier versus Amazon compared to last year, with Zalando jumping from 9% to 18% more expensive. Otto held steady at 18% higher than Amazon, unchanged from last year. 💡Health & personal care tightens: Amazon’s price lead in health and personal care shrank from 13% to 12% compared to last year. Kaufland showed the most improvement, cutting its gap from 36% to 27% compared to last year. 💡Zooplus stays competitive: Zooplus remained just 3% higher than Amazon for pet supplies and matched Amazon’s prices 70% of the time—the highest!
