In 2011, Eli Lilly and Company told the FDA that Prozac (fluoxetine) can cause persistent sexual dysfunction and the FDA added it to Prozac’s drug label. The FDA failed to realize that this harm could be caused by all similar SRI antidepressants. Dr. Peterson Pierre explains:

Honored to have been part of another summit addressing the role of psychiatric medicines play in veteran suicide and mental health epidemic. I had the privilege of moderating a panel of lived experience survivors. They got to tell their stories and the journey to take their mental health back. The room was full of stories. So many people have been told its their disease and pills thrown at them. One person was on over 18 medications. 💊 We are changing the narrative one story at a time. Stories combined with data is powerful. Thanks Grunt Style Foundation Veterans Collaborative Derek Blumke Diana Hazel Rodriguez Mad In America Massachusetts Office of the Veteran Advocate Angie Peacock Bob Whitaker and many more. #nomoredeadfriends #mentalhealth #makeamericahealthyagain
A special thank you to the Grunt Style Foundation and the Veterans Collaborative for hosting the 1st Massachusetts Veterans Harm Reduction Summit yesterday at Boston Police VFW Post 1018. The event brought together subject matter experts and those with lived experience to discuss the growing mental illness epidemic affecting our veteran community, highlighting the role prescription medication meant for treatment is playing in that rise. Our team was honored to join with members from DEPARTMENT OF MASSACHUSETTS, V.F.W, 22Mohawks, Mad In America, Irreverent Warriors, Inc., the HeartCore Collective, as well veteran services agents and providers, to learn about this complex issue. The summit’s keynote speakers, as well as the veterans who courageously shared their personal journeys, left a lasting impact on all who attended. The OVA looks forward to continuing this conversation with our partners here in the Commonwealth 🤝

⚠️ Sexual dysfunction can persist even after stopping antidepressants! ⚠️ SSRI medications may lead to post-SSRI sexual dysfunction (PSSD), with symptoms like loss of libido, numbness, or difficulty with arousal. Some individuals experience these effects for years, even after discontinuation. While the condition remains under-researched and controversial, experts recommend healthy lifestyle changes and consulting doctors who are informed about PSSD. https://lnkd.in/gHRbMYMD

Post-SSRI Sexual Dysfunction (PSSD) is a condition that doesn’t get nearly enough attention, yet it deeply impacts the lives of those experiencing it. PSSD can cause long-term changes in sexual function even after discontinuing antidepressants, leaving many feeling frustrated and unheard. In my latest blog, I explore what PSSD is, the common symptoms, and how individuals can seek support. Whether you’re dealing with this personally or know someone who is, it’s important to understand that healing is possible, and you’re not alone. Let’s open the conversation and spread awareness about this condition. Read more here 👇 https://lnkd.in/ei_-aNiG

I had the privilege of being interviewed for “First Do No Pharma” documentary by UK cardiologist Dr. Aseem Malhotra, a courageous doctor exposing the deadly grip Big Pharma has on our healthcare system. It’s finally out and was able to watch the US premiere last night at a screening on Capitol Hill. Earlier this week the film opened in London at the famous Odeon Theater and was well received by public and the media. It will be interesting to see if this message gets covered in mainstream media where US is one of only two countries that allow drug advertising on television. Before Woody died, I had never questioned the FDA or the medications prescribed by our doctors. I trusted the system, just like most people do including our doctors. Since then, I’ve learned how deeply the spider web of corruption and manipulation runs, with science manipulated and studies ghostwritten by the pharmaceutical companies paying influential doctors as Key Opinion Leaders. They were the OG Influencers before social media influencers. Between 2003 and 2016, pharmaceutical companies like Pfizer paid over $33 billion in fines for illegal marketing and fraud. Yet, these are the same companies trusted with our health. It’s shocking to realize that drugs like Vioxx killed nearly as many people as the Vietnam War. And despite the billions spent every year on healthcare, we are sicker than ever as a nation. This film is a must-see, exposing essential truths. It features many of my favorite healthy skeptics, including former BMJ editor Fiona Godlee, investigative journalist and former U.S. Senate Finance investigator Paul Thacker, Dr. John Abramson, who helped expose Vioxx, and British cardiologist Peter Wilmshurst, who speaks on research fraud. Others like Casey Means and Robert Kennedy are also interviewed. I was especially pleased to see a nod to the Too Much Medicine movement and the Choosing Wisely campaigns, both of which have unfortunately faded since the pandemic. The business model & culture of putting profits before people must change. We are considered “acceptable collateral damage” or the cost of doing business. We deserve better. Woody deserved better. You deserve better. Thanks Aseem for including my voice, Woody’s story and exposing some of the documents from my litigation that show just how these companies think and behave.
