PsyMed Health prides itself on not just being a "checkbox/right-off" for your patients. Our psychologists, counselors, and dietitians take great pride in being your patient's advocates. We want them to be as successful as they can be after surgery, therefore, if we notice any red flags, we will notify the surgeon's office of any holds and work with the patient to get them to where they need to be for their long-term success before signing off. Contact our office today to learn more about our process at 214-348-5557. #bariatricsurgery #obesitycare #patientadvocacy

Bariatric surgery patients can experience a multitude of emotions after surgery. The first few weeks can cause hormonal shifts which can cause mood swings. Going forward, some set backs in how you feel around food, especially if you typically relied on food for comfort or when you hit a plateau, can arise making you feel frustrated, depressed or overwhelmed. Others can experience food fear as they are afraid to regain weight. As time goes on, people may experience body dysmorphia or imposter syndrome. While exercise and eating healthy can benefit mental health, seeking help for mental health as bariatric patients go through various stages in the post op process can be extremely helpful. PsyMed Health is an expert in mental health counseling for bariatric patients and always taking new clients. Refer your patients today or call the office to make an appointment. #mentalhealth #bariatricsurgery #obesitymanagement #obesitytreatment

The Single Anastimosis Duodenoileostomy with Sleeve Gastrectomy (SADI-S) is becoming slightly more popular, however, insurance is slow to offer coverage as an option for the SADI-S due to how new the surgery is. Insurance companies are slooowly coming around and hopefully soon it will be an option for those seeking this surgery. The surgery doesn't come without risks, however. Psych and nutrition counseling is vital in bariatric surgery including the SADI-S. There are multiple vitamin deficiencies that can occur without the appropriate supplementation and education. It is also important to make sure the patient is mentally prepared for the long-term behavior changes that come with the SADI-S. PsyMed Health has experience counseling patients who opt for the SADI-S and is happy to be your go-to for any psych and nutrition counseling needs. #bariatricsurgery #medicalweightloss #obesitymanagement

I don’t understand why the medical field is leaving out dietitians/nutritionists from the weight-loss craze. I challenge all RDN-LDN across the country to: - Google a local weight loss clinic. - Call them 📞 - Ask if they have a RDN or CNS on staff. - If they don’t, ask who is prescribing the nutrition aspect of their weight loss program? - Inquire about the training of the individuals prescribing the nutrition plans. You will find out that the training is just not there. Many weight loss clinics rely on weight loss drugs, MDs, and ARNPs to prescribe "individualized nutrition plans" without formal nutrition training. I find this negligent and disingenuous of these clinics. Stand for DIETITIANs - an opportunity for the medical community to collaborate and enhance patient outcomes. Patients deserve informed choices. They deserve to work with the experts in nutrition. #Nutrition #Dietitians #PatientOutcomes

GLP-1 agonist medications (i.e Zepbound, Mounjaro, Ozempic Saxenda, etc) are becoming increasingly more popular for weight loss as well as for other health conditions. In our current practice, we have noticed some of these medications, when not followed with proper diet and exercise, can lead to muscle loss and sometimes too much weight loss. It is important to make sure you are consuming a healthy diet and exercise regimen, including cardio and resistance training to maintain long-term success with these medications. Scheduling an appointment with a registered dietitian can help you make the most of using these medication for successful weight management. Call PSYMED HEALTH to make an appointment today! #glp1 #glp1medication #weightloss #weightmanagement
