We are excited to introduce the Ability Fund: A new initiative by PSYONIC and the Limbs for Life Foundation to provide advanced prosthetics to those denied by insurance. Traditional prosthetic services can cost $50,000-$100,000 for EITHER an arm OR leg. Through the Ability Fund: Every $25,000 donated, covers BOTH an Ability Hand AND a below-knee prosthetic leg, including all clinical fittings. Our intended first recipient is 17-year-old Ivan Krastev. Ivan is a robotics enthusiast and drone pilot, born with one hand. Unfortunately, his insurance won't cover a bionic hand—but together, we want to change that. If you feel similarly and would like to show your support for Ivan and other like him, you can visit https://Ability.Fund to learn all the details. Every dollar donated is 100% tax deductible and goes directly to the cost of devices and clinical services. Support for this fund won't just transform Ivan's life—it'll help launch a movement in making advanced prosthetics more accessible to all. P.S. We will be having a livestream next Tuesday (12/03) so if you have any questions, come join us! More details to come. #bionics #prosthetic #limbdifference #accessibility #medicaltech #healthcare #givingback"

Using a bionic hand to hold and hammer a nail might not be as straight forward as you might think. We've had several users asking about this one so we're glad to finally get it out. Let us know if there are any other tasks you'd like us to cover. #Bionic #prosthetic #tutorial #PSYONIC #redefininghuman

Great research using the Ability Hand to restore the sense of touch and sensation in those with missing or paralyzed limbs. Great write up by Fred Schwaller, PhD Full article: https://lnkd.in/gwRBJAXf
Pretty cool to see our Ability Hand featured in Nature Magazine! Researchers at the University of Chicago are using the PSYONIC Ability Hand to work on restoring the sense of touch and sensation for people with missing or paralyzed limbs. Through brain implants, Scott Imbrie, who was paralyzed after a car accident, can now control the hand and receive sensory feedback. He's even regained some natural feeling in parts of his body. If you're interested in this kind of stuff, it's definitely worth checking out. Imagine regaining the ability to feel touch after decades without sensation—all through the power of advanced neurotechnology. For Scott Imbrie, this extraordinary journey has become a reality. A fantastic new article in Nature Portfolio illustrates a significant milestone: the development of bionic limbs that feel like natural extensions of the body. In 1985, Scott sustained a severe spinal cord injury that limited his mobility and sensation. Today, he’s moving—and feeling—through a robotic arm, thanks to pioneering work at the University of Chicago and Blackrock Neurotech's cutting-edge BCI technology. "I can feel my brain getting reprogrammed to feel different types of stimuli," Scott explains. "It's like being a child learning to touch again, but I have the language and imagination to describe how I'm perceiving things." Beyond technical achievement, this sensory feedback has reinvigorated Scott’s connection to the world, enhancing his quality of life. Integrating touch has made the prosthetic more intuitive, reducing phantom limb pain, enhancing embodiment, and transforming the user experience. We’re incredibly proud of our role in enabling these breakthroughs, which exemplify the power of high-resolution intracortical recording and stimulation to restore sensory function. Our deepest gratitude to the pioneering researchers—Giacomo Valle, Robert Gaunt, Jennifer Collinger, and many others—who are pushing the boundaries of what’s possible. We also honor the late Sliman Bensmaia, whose vision continues to inspire our work in neuroengineering. And, of course, a special thank you to individuals like Scott Imbrie, whose dedication (four days a week, three hours at a time) is invaluable to advancing this technology. The future of neural interfaces goes beyond restoring movement; it’s about reviving the sensory richness of human experience. With each step forward, we’re bringing this vision closer to reality—not just for individuals like Scott, but for countless others seeking to reconnect with the world.
