Thank you to Ligne Roset for bringing the iconic Anda Armchair to PULSE Prague 2024. This piece became the hero of the conference, serving as the seat for interviews with some of the most inspiring architects, designers, and artists of our time. From Kengo Kuma and Tomek Rygalik to Anna Maresova, Jan Vondrák of mjölk Architects, Bernhard Steger, and many others, the Anda Armchair was the perfect mix of comfort and elegance for these conversations that are to be revealed soon. OBJEKTOR ARCHITEKTI are taking home the PULSE Award in the Interior Design category, subcategory of Residential Interior, for their work on an apartment in Ovenecká 33, Prague. This project reimagines an interior as living scenography, with changing and permanent backdrops that evolve for living, exhibitions, and events. The jury, led by Studiopepe, praised the innovative use of volumes and materials and the fluid connection between public and private spheres. arianna lelli mami highlighted its unique approach, describing it as an inspiring vision of modern interior design. Deyan Sudjic, one of the speakers at PULSE Prague 2024 and a renowned critic of architecture and design, shared his views in a recent WIRED Czech Republic & Slovakia interview with Vladan Sir, discussing technology, innovation, and their impact on modern cities. Known for his critical perspective, Sudjic challenges mainstream trends, including the rise of autonomous cars, which he believes do not align with the vision of livable, human-centered cities. With a career spanning co-founding Blueprint magazine and leading the Design Museum in London, his work, including the influential book The Edifice Complex, continues to shape global conversations about architecture, power, and society. Thank you to POLSTRIN DESIGN, s. r. o. for bringing their award-winning Hide and Seek collection to PULSE Prague 2024. This seating collection, recognized with the Czech Grand Design 2022 and Red Dot Design Award, offered attendees a stylish and comfortable place to relax and connect. “As children, we used to build hideaways out of sofas and duvets in the middle of the living room, creating our own little world. We also found ourselves in our own, playful world when designing a new collection for Polstrin, when we folded individual pillows and freely shaped them together until the Hide and Seek collection was created,” shared designers Lexová & Smetana, the creative minds behind the collection. With its playful creativity, organic shapes, and flexible design, the Hide and Seek collection is perfect for both home interiors and public spaces like hotel lobbies and relaxation areas. This year’s PULSE Award in the Product Design category goes to Czech designer Jan Plechac for his collection of Harmonic Vases for Moser. The jury, led by Italian Studio Formafantasma, praised the collection for its blend of timeless romanticism, thoughtful contrasts and exceptional craftsmanship. The vases offer a striking play of light and reflections, celebrating the enduring beauty of traditional handcraft in a refreshing and contemporary way. SENSBIOM 2.1, presented at PULSE Prague 2024 by crafting plastics! studio, is an installation that visualizes ultraviolet radiation (UVR). Using sensing lattices that fold, twist, and self-stain in real-time, it acts as a passive detector, signaling changes in solar radiation. This project highlights the invisible impact of UV rays, even indoors, and raises awareness of their effects on health. Today, on the 17th of November, we reflect on the courage, freedom, solidarity and collaboration that unite us, as we honor Struggle for Freedom and Democracy Day and the legacy of the Velvet Revolution. These ideals are the foundation of PULSE, where we connect professionals in architecture and design across Central Europe. Thanks to the freedoms we celebrate today, we can share ideas, celebrate creativity and work together to shape a better future.
