  • What does it take to save a life? Properly trained medical professionals, high-quality equipment fit for duty, and blood donated by ordinary people. This combination made all the difference for this wounded soldier. In the photo: Personnel from one of the stabilization points supported by PULSE performing a whole blood transfusion using a˚MEQU blood warmer. In 2024, PULSE, in collaboration with the Ukrainian Center for Transplant Coordination, trained over 150 medical providers in prehospital blood transfusion techniques. Additionally, thanks to our partners support, five stabilization points were fully equipped with the necessary tools and supplies to perform life-saving blood transfusions.

  • 🩸Blood saves lives! The 37th Separate Marine Brigade has shared an inspiring video showcasing the implementation of prehospital blood transfusions at stabilization points—a vital milestone in enhancing battlefield medical care. PULSE - Tactical medicine for Ukraine has provided a turnkey solution for 4 brigades of the UA Marine Corps by training their medical personnel, supplying all the necessary equipment, and offering continuous support during implementation. This achievement has been made possible through the generous support of Vodafone Ukraine, the major donor for this project. Special thanks to Sidus Vitae and Patrick Chellew for their invaluable expertise and contributions. Additionally, the use of FARMA blood transfusion kits has been crucial in equipping medics with the necessary tools to save lives in the field, especially when the cold chain is unavailable. 🎥 Courtesy of video: 37th Separate Marine Brigade. • At PULSE, we’ve always believed that resilience is built on preparation, collaboration, and innovation. Seeing our co-founder, Fedir Serdiuk, highlight how Ukraine’s private security sector adapted swiftly to unprecedented challenges reinforces the importance of readiness and the role of tactical medicine in saving lives. We’re proud to be part of this story, ensuring that our defenders have the skills and tools they need to respond effectively. The Tallinn Digital Summit is a crucial platform for sharing these experiences, and we’re excited to see the world recognize Ukraine’s approach to resilience.

  • The PULSE team had a unique opportunity to test the first mixed reality BlueRoom Simulation system in Europe, and we sincerely thank its developers for this experience as well as for Skills Meducation for hosting us at their fantastic facility. This innovative simulator impressed us with its high level of realism, environmental immersion, and the ability to monitor provider metrics such as heart rate, SpO2, and stress levels. Additionally, the system allows for the collection and analysis of measurable data, which is crucial for training and evaluating outcomes. Thanks to mixed reality technologies, participants can interact with real objects such as tourniquets, medical kits, and airway management devices, seamlessly integrated into the virtual world. This creates an immersive effect without losing the sense of working with real equipment. From our team’s perspective, the system seems to have been primarily developed for aeromedical evacuation medics. It offers the opportunity to "experience" various aeromedical platforms, from the UH-60 Black Hawk to the C-17 Globemaster. This makes perfect sense, as it eliminates the need to deploy actual aircraft for training. Additionally, there are scenarios with the Bushmaster, stabilization points, and TCCC scenarios for Care under fire or threat phase . We believe BlueRoom is an excellent and effective tool for professional training. At the same time, it can be used a supplementary training stage that complements traditional methods. We hope this system once will become accessible to Ukrainian military personnel, adding new opportunities to their training programs. Dale Linegar Ben K. Marius C. Jan van Leeuwen

  • “In the event of critical bleeding, death can occur in three to seven minutes,” Fedir Serdiuk explains. “The chances for survival are much greater if bystanders or fellow soldiers give first aid—simple maneuvers aimed at saving the injured person until professional medical assistance is possi- ble.” The Stanford Social Innovation Review has published an article by Paul Hockenos titled “Ukraine’s Wartime Lifesavers”. This insightful piece highlights the critical role of military first aid training in Ukraine’s defense efforts. https://lnkd.in/dCqKkSBk

  • Mike Meoli tragically lost his life in a car accident in Kyiv. Mike was a devoted friend of Ukraine and a true enthusiast of tactical medicine. Thanks to his contribution as an affiliate faculty, a network of authorized NAEMT training centers now operates in Ukraine. Mike dreamed of advancing tactical medicine and implementing the best practices both on the battlefield and in training. He especially enjoyed teaching the skill of cricothyrotomy, sharing his expertise with his Ukrainian colleagues. Mike’s unique contribution lay in his advocacy for Ukraine's own training capacity development. At a time when some Western experts argued that Ukrainians required constant external oversight, Mike firmly believed that the best tactical medicine is currently being forged in Ukraine. He emphasized that we are fully capable of training ourselves and sharing our expertise with others. We thank Mike for believing in us. We honor his legacy and will continue the work we started together.

  • Scaling up opportunities for pre-hospital blood transfusion on the frontlines and improving chances of survival 🩸 We have trained the medics of the 73rd Naval Special Operations Center and equipped them with all the necessary tools for storing, transporting, and transfusing blood in pre-hospital conditions. The sooner blood is transfused to critically injured patients, the higher their chances of survival. Thank you to everyone who supported this initiative! ______________________ Fedir Serdiuk Igor Korpusov
