Introducing NVIDIA Cosmos, an open-source, open-weight Video World Model. It's trained on a whopping 20M hours of videos (!!) and weighs from 4B to 14B. To put in perspective, 20M hours is like watching YouTube 24/7 non-stop from the age of Roman Empire to today. Cosmos offers two flavors: diffusion (continuous tokens) and autoregressive (discrete tokens); and two generation modes: text->video and text+video->video. Physical AI has a big data problem. Synthetic data to the rescue! We apply Cosmos to large-scale synthetic data generation for robotics and autonomous driving, and now you can too! It's all yours to finetune. Open source AI is evolving beyond models, driving the development of advanced AI systems. In a recent article from premier PyTorch member IBM's Anabelle Nicoud, PyTorch Executive Director Matt W. highlighted a key direction for the open source AI community in 2025: 👉 “I think the most pervasive trend in open source AI for 2025 will be improving the performance of smaller models and pushing AI models to the edge...Hopefully, there will be innovations that bring models down in size while maintaining performance, making models more responsive and keeping a model’s knowledge up-to-date, without the reliance on external systems.” This shift underscores the growing importance of open source in delivering scalable, cost-effective AI solutions.
