🗣️ “Fintech takes away the power hegemony between incumbent and individual.” That's one of the many takeaways attendees walked away with after Fintech Meetup chairman Sanjib Kalita interviewed Nigel Morris for the keynote in Las Vegas yesterday. During the conversation, he recalled his and Capital One co-founder Rich Fairbank's journey when they pitched their idea for a data-driven credit card to banks in the late 1980s. The Capital One story shows “that from small acorns, giant oak trees grow,” and that's why Morris is a big believer that entrepreneurs can create huge things. Not only is he betting big on entrepreneurs, but specifically entrepreneurs running fintech firms. "Fintech levels the playing field. Fintech empowers consumers of small businesses." More takeaways from the keynote in Gabrielle Saulsbery's article on Banking Dive. 🔗 https://lnkd.in/dp-8ZAdi

🌎 🛍️ Global e-commerce startup Swap announced its $40 million Series B. QED Investors is thrilled to double down on our investment in Swap, which provides a platform for direct-to-consumer, e-commerce brands to manage their logistics in one place. One of the many advantages of Swap's platform is its ability to consolidate data from various products and consumer interactions, supporting brands through the whole lifecycle. Swap is also integrating artificial intelligence into its platform to enhance its inventory management and operational processes and help with cross-border tax filing and return processing. Its newest product, Swap Inventory, will use AI to analyze data from brands' warehouses, Shopify stores and its platform to help clients forecast trends and demand. Congratulations to Sam Atkinson, Zach Bailet and the Swap team. https://lnkd.in/gp-SrwAp

🦷 Excited to fill you in on our latest funding round co-led with our friends at Valor Capital Group. Sao Paulo-based Capim, a vertical SaaS company specializing in the dental sector, has raised a $26.7 million Series A to expand its financial offerings with a POS terminal, which will offer clinics significantly lower merchant discount rates while integrating with its SaaS financial management module. The terminal will allow clinics to accept credit cards, debit cards and PIX. Currently, Capim’s software helps patients book appointments digitally at connected clinics and offers a less expensive payment alternative than a credit card through its buy now, pay later (BNPL) for dental services. Capim has helped over 60,000 Brazilians gain access to dental procedures. In 2024, the company tripled its revenue while adding more than 4,000 clinics to its client base. It currently serves 6,000 dental clinics and expects to reach over 10,000 by year’s end. Congratulations Marcelo Lutz, Roberto Biselli and Capim team. Thanks to TechCrunch's Mary Ann Azevedo for breaking the news. https://lnkd.in/efd_aXg6
