✅ 🔬 💡 Excellent #GeneralAssembly for #Measuring and #Verification! More than 100 participants in person and online were present at today's #GA of the "Mess- und Eichwesen" (Measuring and Verification Authorities) at #PTB Berlin. It was a wonderful day full of #cuttingedge research centering around #ArtificialIntelligence (#AI), from #softwaretesting on measuring devices to #AI in #mammography and X-ray #tomography. Christina Decker (Director-General for Digital and Innovation Policy / Bundesministerium für Wirtschaft und Klimaschutz / #BMWK) emphasised the importance of Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt, PTB for many current fields of research relating to the challenges associated with #AI. Dr. Tatiana Evas (European Commission, DG CNECT) explained the particularities of the #EU #AI #Act. #EvelynGraß (Head of the Artificial Intelligence Division, #BMWK) pointed out the #tightschedule for the national #implementation of the EU AI Act over the next three years. Katharina Gierschke (Dep. VIC3 ‘Metrology, general accreditation law, technical supervision PTB, BAM and DAkkS’ / #BMWK) analyzed the current EU requirements specifically for measuring and verification. This was followed by fascinating presentations on practical applications of the #DigitalCalibrationCertificate (#DCC) for #keycomparisons and non-contact #bodytemperaturemeasurements and an outlook for an #AI-supported #qualityinfrastructure of the future. Last week DAkkS attended the 56th EA General Assembly in Estoril, Portugal. Besides current technical topics, the official farewell of our colleague Gabriel Zrenner in his role as chairman of the Horizontal Harmonization Committee was on the agenda. We would like to thank him for his many years of commitment and all participants for the warm farewell. Gabriel Zrenner will remain part of EA and, in addition to his role as head of department at DAkkS, will take on new responsibilities as a member of the EA Executive Board from January 2025. We look forward to continuing to promote and strengthen the exchange between the accreditation bodies in Europe. 💪🏻
