In a long-anticipated commercial trial to generate unforgeable digital assets using quantum technologies, Quantinuum, Mitsui & Co., Ltd. and NEC Corporation have demonstrated the transmission of quantum tokens across a fiber-optic network in Japan. Learn more in our announcement: https://lnkd.in/ehpfwaGY Quantum tokens were originally conceived to provide unforgeability, privacy, and fast settlement, in a single financial instrument. Quantinuum’s trial demonstrated this idea in the real world for the very first time. Remarkably, using off-the-shelf hardware, quantum tokens were transmitted across 10km of fiber in Tokyo, using commercial quantum key distribution (QKD) devices provided by NEC. This demonstration points to applications in areas such as stock exchange and commodity-backed tokens – all areas where unforgeability and rapid verification could provide significant advantages. This video explains the application of quantum tokens for financial security: https://lnkd.in/eAaurnwA Discover this new frontier of financial security, powered by quantum, in our white paper: https://lnkd.in/eE7_hpsr #cybersecurity #fintech #quantumtech
