Your Source for Scientific Instrumentation
About us
For more than 40 years Quantum Design (QD) has been providing technology solutions to researchers in the fields of physics, chemistry, biotechnology, materials science, and nanotechnology. Established in 1982 in San Diego, California, Quantum Design is the leading commercial source for automated materials characterization systems offering a variety of measurement capabilities. QD instruments are found in the world’s leading research institutions and have become the reference standard for a variety of magnetic and physical property measurements. Quantum Design instruments are cited in, and provide the data for, more scientific publications than any other instrument in the fields of magnetics and materials characterization. This means that each year, literally hundreds of scientific publications, advancing the science of materials, use data generated from QD instruments. An essential part of providing scientific solutions to researchers around the globe is to also offer state-of-the-art instruments from other leading manufacturers. These manufacturers are chosen by Quantum Design not only for their innovative products, but also because they believe in the same level of customer satisfaction and support that scientists have come to expect from QD products worldwide. With headquarters in the USA, and offices in Belgium, Brazil, China, Czech Republic, Germany, France, Hungary, India, Italy, Japan, Korea, Poland, Romania, Russia, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Turkey, and the United Kingdom, QD is strategically located in the world’s key centers for scientific research, providing local marketing, sales, and technical support.

We’re proud to recognize Josefa Gregorio for her outstanding contribution towards improving the quality and efficiency of our operations effort! The CAR Award is given annually to the operations engineer credited with resolving the most Corrective Action Reports (CARs) during that time. CARs track some of the toughest challenges facing Quantum Design's manufacturing operation at any given time. Given the complex nature of QD's products, resolving them can take weeks, months, or even years. To do so often involves careful analysis of quality metrics, experiments to rework assemblies or processes, thorough documentation of discoveries and conclusions, and coordination across multiple departments to implement a solution. Join us in celebrating Josefa G. for this well-deserved recognition! 🎉👏

MFM + SEM + AFM. FusionScope® combines these capabilities, allowing us to dive into the intricate world of spin ice. These materials offer a unique glimpse into the complexities of condensed matter physics, where magnetic frustration and emergent phenomena lead to exotic excitations resembling magnetic monopoles. This fascinating behavior is opening doors in areas like advanced data storage and quantum computing! We explored patterned Permalloy (Ni81Fe19) samples and analyzed three distinct Penrose patterns, where each nanorod is a small ferromagnet. FusionScope enables precise MFM + SEM + AFM analyses in one seamless experience. The unified coordinate system and Profile View allow for effortless navigation across nanostructures, delivering fully correlative SEM and AFM insights. Discover the full potential of FusionScope at fusionscope.com. #microscopy #magnetism #spinice
