💡Earlier this month, QCi was proud to participate in a Quantum Topics Seminar hosted by the Purdue Quantum Science and Engineering Institute (PQSEI) at Purdue University. The seminar showcased QCi’s work in accessible and affordable photonic quantum technologies and featured a deep dive into QCi’s entropy quantum computing and photonics reservoir computing, both of which offer unique capabilities for high-performance computing, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity. The insightful session also explored QCi’s quantum-inspired single photon remote sensing technology. In addition, attendees from Purdue and other member universities within the Center for Quantum Technologies (CQT) learned about QCi’s exciting progress in integrated photonics on thin film lithium niobate (TFLN). 💡#LessonOfTheWeek: Neural Networks and Reservoir Computing In this week’s lesson, QCi dives into reservoir computing, a machine learning paradigm closely related to neural networks. Reservoir computing simplifies training by leaving the majority of the network untrained and focusing on a smaller, trainable section near the output. Unlike traditional neural networks, which rely on complex backpropagation and significant computational resources to adjust all parameters, reservoir computing leverages the untrained portion of the network to perform nonlinear transformations. This reduces both training complexity and costs, making reservoir computing easier to train, more resource-efficient, and less reliant on expertise and experimentation in network design.
