That's a wrap on the second annual Rady Children's Invitational! 🏀🌟 Thank you to everyone who attended, tuned in to watch & donated to support life-saving care at #RadyChildrens. This year’s tournament was filled with unforgettable moments—our patients served as honorary team captains, delivered the game balls & sang the national anthem. The matchups between NC State, Purdue, BYU & Ole Miss kept us on the edge of our seats. 👏 Congrats to the Purdue for taking home the trophy! 🏆

At just 12 years old, Viviana faced a diagnosis of acute myeloid leukemia with remarkable courage & positivity. She used humor to uplift spirits, pulling playful pranks on her care team & even sparking a pizza delivery frenzy at #RadyChildrens after posting a sign in her window that read, “Please send pizza.” 🍕 After overcoming cancer twice & battling severe graft-versus-host disease, Viviana has emerged stronger than ever. We are delighted to appoint Dr. Rachel Thompson as the co-director of the Southern Family Center for Cerebral Palsy at #RadyChildrens. 🥳 In addition to this role, she joins UC San Diego School of Medicine as associate clinical professor in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery. Dr. Thompson brings her expertise in pediatric neuromuscular orthopedics, with a focus on cerebral palsy, adolescent hip diseases & the use of gait analysis to enhance surgical decision-making & improve patient outcomes. Outside of the hospital, Dr. Thompson is a dedicated advocate & global volunteer. As Chair of the LA Board for the Arthritis Foundation, you might find her biking along the coast to support their mission.
