The history of computing hardware has been defined by scientists and engineers realising that radical new approaches are required to meet our technological needs. Demand for AI compute is exploding, but the supply is struggling to keep up. Our current mechanisms for training AI systems utilise a narrow set of algorithms and hardware building blocks which require significant capital to develop and produce. By contrast, natural processing systems innately process complex information more efficiently – on several orders of magnitude. Through our programme, Scaling Compute, we’re looking to uncover new technological pathways that can bridge this gap and bring the cost of AI hardware down by >1000x. We’re funding 12 teams of Creators in a coordinated R&D effort, spanning academia, non-profit R&D organisations, startups and multinational companies. Our Creators bring together the expertise, capital and networks required to pull new ideas into prototypes, and onward to real-world applications. I want to formally welcome our recent new hires to Rain AI: J-D allegrucci as our Head of Hardware Engineering. J-D worked at Apple for 17 years in a senior silicon leadership role leading their SoC division, where he oversaw the SoC in Apple’s flagship products including iPhones, Macs, iPads, Apple Watches, and the Vision Pro. Amin Firoozshahian as our Lead Architect. Amin was a leading architect at Meta on the AI Systems Hardware/Software Co-Design and Infra Silicon teams working on the MTIA family of accelerators. Sagar Kulkarni as a Senior Software Engineer on our compiler team. Sagar joins us from d-Matrix, where he was an engineer on their compiler team. Welcome to Rain AI, J-D, Amin, and Sagar! After 17 amazing years at Apple, I am excited to join the Rain AI leadership team as their Head of Hardware Engineering. I am grateful for having been part of Apple’s silicon team meteoric rise as an industry leader, where I was leading the development of the key SoCs for ground breaking products such as the iPhone, Apple Watch and MaCs. I’d like to especially thank Johny Srouji for his leadership, and my team for their constant support during that time. At Rain AI, we’re designing the most energy-efficient AI hardware by building accelerators and IPs, using our novel in-memory-compute technology. I’ll be overseeing the silicon and system efforts of Rain AI’s breakthrough energy-efficient hardware products. This is a critical time for AI. Our products will enable a growing list of customers and partners to deploy and productize their AI solutions. I'm excited to be on the front lines leading a team of talented engineers. I am excited to share that I have joined Rain AI as their Lead Architect in their quest of designing the most energy-efficient hardware for AI. After more than five years at Meta and being a key participant in the MTIA program, I believe it is the right time for me to apply what I have learned to new challenges. It is a critical time for AI; being able to run the most advanced models in any form factor is AI's holy grail, including running massive LLMs on any device. Rain is designing the most energy-efficient hardware for AI by building AI accelerators and IP, using novel compute-in-memory (CIM) technology. It is a unique mixture of challenging problems, impressive technology, and extremely brilliant people. I am excited to be leading the architecture team and driving development of Rain's near and long term products.

We packed the house at Betr last night for OneSixOne Ventures Miami AI Day! Love to see the growth of Miami's tech ecosystem. The conversations were fascinating, from hearing Andrei Santalo and Ross Pantone talk about building the most energy efficient hardware for AI on the planet, to an incredible VC panel with Michael Melikian (305 Ventures), Salomon Sredni (Ocean Azul Partners), Raul Ernesto Henriquez (Medina Capital) and Zach Rubin (Las Olas Venture Capital). This could not have been possible with out the support from Dentons Global Venture Technology team (Jackson Hwu), Ocean Azul Partners (Ryan Pruitt), K&L Gates (David McDonald), iM Critical (Lenny Chesal), Betr (Joey Levy, Kim Komara & lisa lacascia) and adaptAI Inc. Specifically, we’re #hiring for a senior recruiting leader to be our go-to person that will help us grow successfully.     You would create, drive, and own the end-to-end recruiting strategy for Rain AI during this huge inflection point. This is both a “roll up your sleeves” role (we need our first ATS!😊) and a hugely strategic role for Rain – as you would also be a driver of company-wide strategies around organizational planning, retention, and talent brand. While you would be an IC at first, you will quickly grow into a people manager here at Rain AI as you build the foundation of the recruiting organization at Rain. I cannot emphasize enough how imperative you will be to Rain maturing into a successful AI accelerator business! This person would directly report to me, but also partner extremely closely with our senior leadership and CEO.    I’m specifically looking for someone with deep technical recruiting experience, experience managing a team, and experience scaling teams quickly. Really, I’m looking for a partner to me on the broader people strategy here at Rain, building the foundation of this organization alongside me. Needless to say....we’d work very closely! :)   Technology is changing faster than ever because of AI, creating unprecedented opportunities for this world.
