What to Look For and When to Call the Experts Your roof is your property’s first defense against the elements, but it doesn't last forever. Over time, wear and tear can compromise its integrity, leading to costly repairs if ignored. Here’s what to watch for and when it’s time to call professionals. Signs of Wear and Tear on Your Roof Missing or Damaged Shingles: Cracked, curling, or missing shingles expose your roof to water damage. For metal or flat roofs, check for bent panels or blisters. Leaks or Water Stains: Water spots on ceilings or walls signal leaks. Prompt attention prevents structural issues. Granule Loss: If granules are in gutters, your shingles may be near the end of their lifespan. Sagging Rooflines: A drooping roofline indicates possible structural compromise and needs immediate inspection. Moss, Algae, or Mold Growth: Trapped moisture accelerates roof wear. Extensive growth may signal underlying problems. High Energy Bills: Drafts from an old or damaged roof can spike heating or cooling costs. Damaged Flashing: Cracked or corroded flashing around chimneys and vents lets water in. Visible Cracks or Holes: Light shining through your attic or visible damage suggests repairs are overdue. When to Call the Experts? Call roofing experts if: Damage is Extensive: Multiple missing shingles or sagging sections need professional attention. Leaks Persist: Persistent leaks often require specialized tools. Roof Is Aging: Roofs 15–25 years old (depending on material) may need replacement. Storm Damage Occurs: Hidden issues often arise after severe weather. Warranty Repairs: Many warranties require certified experts for repairs or inspections. Why Professional Inspections Matter Roofing pros detect issues you might miss and offer solutions tailored to your roof’s needs, whether it’s a simple repair or a full replacement. This past weekend, our service manager Sarah Sutton-Shouse attended the National Roofing Partners Service managers meeting along with the National Women In Roofing (NWIR) South Central Regional Event in Texas. The event was a great success, bringing together professionals from across the roofing industry for two days of education, networking, and professional development. Attendees had the opportunity to participate in workshops and discussions focused on advancing the careers of women in the roofing sector, with an emphasis on mentorship, networking, and industry growth. The Service Managers Meeting was engaging and created a platform for meaningful connections and collaboration. It was a fantastic opportunity to reconnect with peers and build new relationships, all while learning from industry experts. Here's to continuing to support each other in driving progress in the roofing industry! A shout out to Tori Turner, Lauren Gillett, Jay Wade, Samantha Bell and Kyrah Coker, Thank you!
