MIT RAISE leadership is on a roadshow through the Philippines! On Monday, director Cynthia Breazeal and MIT Open Learning's Vijay Kumar spoke at the University of Batangas on AI literacy and universal AI, along with Open Learning's John Radovan. They're doing the same today at University of St. La Salle - Bacolod...and the roadshow keeps on moving, to the Unilab, Inc. Bayanihan Center in Mandaluyong tomorrow and the Cebu Institute of Technology on Friday. This is all on the backdrop of the continued rapid growth of Day of AI, which since 2023 has had a Philippines Day of AI.

This email to RAISE director Cynthia Breazeal made our day! (Shared with the author's 👍.) Dear Dr. Breazeal, My name is Shannon Johnson and I’m part of a snow sculpting team called the Snow Angels based in MN. For the last 5 years, we’ve depicted a little girl in a tutu engaging in various scientific pursuits. Each year we’ve chosen a different female scientist as the inspiration for our sculpture. Typically our sculpture is a 3 day, large block event, but this year, we took on a slightly different challenge – an 8-hour, one-day competition with a smaller block. We were thrilled to create “Cynthia’s Snowbot: Inspired by Cynthia Breazeal.” As a pioneer in human-robot interaction, your work seemed like the perfect subject for our snowy creation. We’re delighted to share that we won 1st place with “Cynthia’s Snowbot”! More importantly, I wanted to reach out personally to let you know how inspiring you are. Thank you for being such a positive role model and a true inspiration in so many ways. Sincerely, Shannon Johnson

MIT RAISE director Cynthia Breazeal: "We've moved from the grassroots – reaching teachers directly through the Day of AI – to having conversations with ministries of education about formally bringing this into the K-12 curriculum. We've built the research, the credibility, and have piloted and tested it with teachers in different countries. Now we're trying to build collaborative ecosystems because it's not just us – there has to be a whole collection of stakeholders." #AI #education #literacy #MIT #careers #K12
