Monitoring tree growth is what sustainability looks like. Through forest biometrics, we measure critical data like tree diameter and height, providing us with insights that guide future forestry practices. This systematic approach allows for informed decision making, ensuring the health of our trees contributes to a robust ecosystem. Story poles hold deep significance in many Native American cultures, representing history, values, and a deep connection to the land. Last year, the Port Gamble S'Klallam Tribe retired one of their story poles and began the search for a tree that could continue their storytelling tradition. This thoughtful process required a tree that was big, straight, and could be harvested in one piece. While the journey of crafting the new story pole is still unfolding, we’re honored to help preserve this important tradition by finding a tree that met the requirements. We look forward to seeing the final results of the carving. Pictured is the Port Gamble S'Klallam Tribe story pole that was retired. #nativeamericanheritageday
