🛑 Representation, by itself, is not enough to empower Black boys with disabilities. Minimizing the education of Black boys with disabilities to just hiring Black male teachers will not solve the systemic issues they face. The representation of teachers is important; however, the effectiveness of teachers is just as important. If you have a teacher who looks like the students he serves and comes from the same cultural background of his students without the skills and resources to become a highly effective teacher, Black boys with disabilities will not be empowered. ⭐ We need to establish representation are one part of the solution instead of the solution itself.
