There was no hype, just AI in Healthcare at tonight's Digital Health KC event. It was refreshing to hear from the experienced panel not about what AI could be but what they have been doing with AI in their companies and professions to produce real business results. I joke that there is usually more A than I in these conversations, but not tonight. Tam Tran, Kyle McAllister, Paige Reese, and moderator Jill Meyer did an excellent job discussing: • The importance of protecting health data. • Deidentifying data allows for broader use. • The importance of protecting your IP and whether something generated from AI is patentable Tam and Kyle shared how their companies lower costs because of the AI they have built into their products. They also shared how they internally use AI as one layer of testing and verifying outputs by leveraging multiple AI models. The panel also spoke about the hallucinations that will occur and how they built into their process to catch as many of these as possible. Healthcare bias exists and is therefore represented in the data. However, AI allows them to go beyond surface-level data and dig into nonstructured data and images to identify a more accurate patient representation. In Missouri's "Show Me" state, it wasn't surprising that these panel members shared their concrete specifics on using AI and protecting IP to improve healthcare. #digitalhealthkc #AIhealthcare #redpointsummit
