We are proud to share that Reed Smith has been recognized by Bloomberg Law as one of the top 10 Pro Bono Innovators of the Year for 2024 - https://lnkd.in/gqjzqWbT - This honor reflects our commitment to advancing justice and equality for our clients and communities through impactful and innovative legal work. Among our pro bono achievements, we secured a nearly $1 million settlement for journalists who were attacked by police during the 2020 protests of the murder of George Floyd in Minneapolis, in partnership with the ACLU of Minnesota. We also won three landmark cases in Pennsylvania that affirmed the rights of transgender individuals to change their names, despite a state rule barring felons from doing so, in collaboration with the Transgender Legal Defense & Education Fund. We are grateful to our pro bono partners and our lawyers and staff whose dedication made these victories possible. Pro bono work is a core value and a source of pride and fulfillment for our firm. On November 12th, we had a fabulous time hosting Chic for a Cause: A Night of Fashion, Fun, and Philanthropy, Reed Smith’s first private shopping event at Saks Fifth Avenue in New York. The exclusive experience featured an insightful presentation by L'AGENCE, mini facials and hand massages from Orveda, and a fantastic opportunity to shop in support of the Coalition for the Homeless, Inc., the nation’s oldest advocacy and direct service organization helping homeless individuals and families in New York. Thanks to everyone who joined us and helped us to make an impact—the Coalition will receive 10% of the event's revenue (up to $5,000). A heartfelt thank you to our Women's Initiative Network of Reed Smith (in particular, Natsayi Mawere, who inspired by “Style, Sip and Shop at Nordstrom”, ran with the idea to create a new event for New York in support of the Coalition), the team at Saks and L’Agence, and the Coalition.
