Revolutionizing the supply of Rare Earth Elements (REEs) in Europe through innovative technologies #HorizonEU project
About us
The Horizon Europe Project "REESOURCE" aims to unlock the supply of Rare Earth Elements in Europe through responsible, sustainable, and decarbonized innovative technologies. With a focus on minimizing environmental impact fostering a circular economy in the mineral exploitation, and boosting the social acceptance towards mineral extraction activities, REESOURCE is set to reshape the future of European mining. Our vision: Rare Earth Elements are vital for Europe's economy and green political agenda, making the REESOUCE project a crucial step towards achieving self-sufficiency in REEs. The initiative addresses the growing demand for key materials essential for the green and digital transitions, with a focus on ensuring responsible supply while minimizing socioenvironmental impact and reducing CO2 emissions. REESOURCE will establish a sustainable and decarbonized value chain basis for the mine-to permanent magnets industry in Europe. This project has received funding from the European Union's Horizon Europe research and innovation program under Grant Agreement No 101138460.

REESOURCE at the Input Meeting for the R&D Strategy for Land-Based Minerals in Norway Our project coordinators, Duygu Yilmaz and Laura Ferrando-Climent, represented the REESOURCE project at the Input Meeting for the R&D Strategy for Land-Based Minerals, hosted by the Norges forskningsråd (Research Council of Norway). This meeting provided a platform to discuss Norway’s approach to sustainable mineral extraction, aligning with REESOURCE’s mission to develop innovative, decarbonized technologies for Rare Earth Element (REE) extraction. We’re pleased to engage in events like this, where we can contribute to shaping the future of sustainable mineral supply chains in Europe. It’s also a great opportunity to network with fellow researchers and industry leaders, fostering collaboration toward responsible and innovative resource management. #REESOURCE #Sustainability #RareEarthElements #GreenTransition #Minerals #CleanEnergy
