Last month on Wednesday, December 18, an act that included a provision to reauthorize the U.S. Economic Development Administration, passed in the Senate with overwhelming bipartisan support. Having already passed in the House earlier in the month, the EDA will now be reauthorized for the first time in 20 years. The EDA is responsible for funding our economic development efforts in the region and continually support projects that will help to economically diversify and strengthen our rural communities. We are thrilled to know that this act was so widely supported throughout congress and the county.
The U.S. Department of Commerce’s U.S. Economic Development Administration celebrates its historic reauthorization by Congress, allowing it to continue its legacy of promoting American innovation and competitiveness by providing grants and support to communities across the country. Since 1965, EDA has led some of the nation’s most impactful programs to strengthen public works and infrastructure, job creation and workforce development, disaster recovery, and technology and industry advancement. EDA has not been formally reauthorized since 2004. https://lnkd.in/eGdA_jzS
