  • Our team will be attending the 2024 The American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) Conference at Booth 205 starting tomorrow, from December 5-7. Our Executive Director for Texas Home and Community Julia Mazick, M.S. CCC-SLP, CBIS, will be with our other team members and would love to meet you! Julia earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders followed by her master’s degree in Speech and Language Pathology from Baylor University. Julia has experience with a variety of patient populations to include language delay, post-concussion, traumatic brain injury, autism, developmental delay, stroke, Parkinson’s, head and neck cancer, Multiple Sclerosis, and other neurological impairments. With all these experiences, she developed an affinity and passion for treating those who have sustained a brain injury. Julia’s passion for working with the brain injury population started when she worked at the TIRR Challenge program in Houston, TX. Her role as the Speech Therapy Clinical Coordinator at TIRR inspired her for a role in leadership when she moved back home to San Antonio where she became the Director of Rehab for Mentis. She continued as the Rehab Director when Mentis and Neurorestorative merged, and she managed both teams for the inpatient and outpatient facilities. Julia joined Rehab Without Walls in September 2022 as a Speech Language Pathologist and Clinical Coordinator and then transitioned to the Executive Director for Home and Community in April 2023. She now manages all six H&C locations throughout the state of Texas. To learn more about the ASHA conference, tickets, and location, please click here: https://nuvi.me/8mxj28

  • According to the CDC, keeping hands clean is one of the most important steps we can take to avoid getting sick and spreading germs to others. Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol if soap and water is not available. • Under the theme “Take the rights path: My health, my right!”, WHO is calling on global leaders and citizens to champion the right to health by addressing the inequalities that hinder progress in ending AIDS. Health is a human right. Everyone should have access to the health services they need, including HIV prevention, treatment, and care services when and where they need them. Protecting rights means ensuring that healthcare is available to everyone, without any discrimination, regardless of their HIV status, background, gender, or where they live.

  • Rosa Parks was a civil rights activist who refused to surrender her seat to a white passenger on a segregated bus in Montgomery, Alabama. Her defiance sparked the one of the largest social movements in history, the Montgomery Bus Boycott, which lasted more than a year. Its success launched nationwide efforts to end racial segregation of public facilities. Parks courageous act and the subsequent Montgomery Bus Boycott led to the integration of public transportation in Montgomery. https://nuvi.me/3xfcrq
