At the BioExcel Summer School on Biomolecular Simulations 2024 in Sardinia, Italy, our partners from the University of Patras (UPAT) showcased the outcomes of their work with a poster titled: “On the non-canonical structure of keratin-derived #antimicrobial peptides (KAMPs) from molecular dynamics simulations.” The UPAT team presented their research on: 🔬 The structural dynamics of KAMPs in dilute and semi-dilute solutions. 🦠 Interactions of KAMPs with Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacterial membranes. 🚪 Innovative methods for assessing pore stability, including a detailed peptidoglycan model. 🐪 OVER THE HUMP: NAVIGATING THE SECOND HALF OF #RELIANCE JOURNEY TO SMART-RESPONSE ANTIMICROBIAL NANOCOATINGS November marks 18 months before RELIANCE HE Project comes to an end, delivering the prototypes of the smart-response antimicrobial #nanocoating formulations as well as the concepts for their application in three areas: 🥼protective hospital clothing 🛒home appliances and 🚘automotive interior parts 👌During the past 8 months, the team held two consortium meetings and partners had attended many conferences to disseminate RELIANCE results. 🎉 We are pleased to share that RELIANCE HE Project was prominently presented at the International Symposium on Biopolymers (#ISBP) 2024, held this year in Malaysia. The theme of the conference “Towards Safe and Sustainable Biopolymers for our Future” brought together 299 participants from 34 countries, all working towards advancing the science and applications of biopolymers. The conference was organized by University Sains Malaysia and featured 83 poster presentations and 86 oral presentations. 💧The project's contribution to #biopolymer research was highlighted by Professor Roger Marti, a key member of the project’s consortium along with College of Engineering and Architecture of Fribourg team. He delivered a keynote lecture on “#Keratin from Chicken Feathers as Functional #Additive” focused on the innovative use of keratin as an additive in #bioplastics.
