RENCO USA honored at Mark Samuelian Awards in Urban Resilience The second annual Mark Samuelian Awards in Urban Resilience were announced Monday night during a ceremony at the Botanical Gardens in Miami Beach. RENCO USA was incredibly proud to be honored as one of the top projects awarded this year. The awards commemorate the life and legacy of the late Miami Beach Commissioner Mark Samuelian, who championed a residents-first approach to resilience for homes and communities facing natural and climate hazards. The awards recognize residential projects in Florida that have successfully implemented hazard-resilient measures, environmental features, technologies, affordability, ease of duplication, community benefits, and strategies in residential projects. After Mark's sudden death in 2022, the Resilience Action Fund (RAF) launched the program with a 10-year $50,000 pledge. The awarded projects this year were: - Babcock Ranch is an ongoing residential development in Florida’s Charlotte and Lee counties by Kitson & Partner. - Lakewood Village is a 96-unit rental apartment complex in Palm Springs, Florida. It is the first US construction using RENCO’s renewable composite fiber-reinforced blocks. - The Lotus is a 2-story single-family home in Naples, Florida, that features the first US construction using Northstar Technology’s fiber-reinforced polymer assemblies. Aris Papadopoulos, FIU Resilience Expert and RAF Chair said: “Mark Samuelian’s legacy continues with these awards. In addition to urban infrastructure, Mark was genuinely interested in how people’s homes could survive. #RENCO #Sustainability #RenewableComposites #MarkSamuelianAwards2024 #WINNER

“If you’re looking at the developed world, you have metal, concrete, and wood. Those are the three structural systems you can build with, but now RENCO is the fourth-ever approved by the International Building Council for the US.” Short for renewable composite, RENCO’s blocks are made of repurposed glass fibers, resin, and stone. [SUCCESS🏆STORY] 2024 JEC Composites Innovation Awards winner in the category ‘Building & Civil Engineering category’: RENCO USA, RENCO MCFR (Mineral Composite Fibre Reinforced) Eddy Chabli, Avant Garde Partners and Ali Yesil, Renco USA, discuss their recent success in this competition. >> https://lnkd.in/dz3dwuWd 📄 Renco MCFR is a state-of-the-art structural building system comprised of interlocking composite building units of various types and sizes of blocks, columns, beams, joists, headers, decking, connectors, etc. These products are all adhesively joined (chemically bonded) to form monolithic structures. Renco products are manufactured with naturally occurring raw materials and newly composed materials from recycled products in an environmentally friendly manufacturing process. Yet it is economical, easy to work with, fast to construct, has superior strength and requires no maintenance after construction. Renco’s Environmental Product Declarations (EPD) have been verified and listed by the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM). 💡Key benefits: • Less costly than a comparable wood, concrete or steel structure. • Stronger-passed ASTM and TAS Standards; able to withstand Cat 5 hurricane winds. • Faster - No shoring, formwork, bracing or waiting for related inspectors • Lighter - Similar in weight to a wood structure and 1/4 the weight of concrete. • Fire, water, and pest resistant. Easy to build with. Partners: • Arquitectonica (USA) • Catalyst Communications (USA) • Coastal Construction Company Construction (USA) • DeSimone Consulting Engineering Engineers (USA) • Devit Consulting. Inc. Composites come in various forms, each tailored for specific applications, from random-fiber reinforcement to continuous-fiber and particulate reinforcement. This versatility allows engineers and designers to select the perfect composite for any project, ensuring maximum performance and durability. In the renewable space, composites like fiber-reinforced polymers, carbon-fiber-reinforced polymers, and glass-reinforced plastic are essential for advancing sustainable solutions. Whether for wind turbine blades or solar panel structures, these materials provide the strength and resilience needed to power a greener future. #RENCO #compositesweek2024 #composites #renewablecomposites #greenerfuture #sustainability
