The good news: A record $71 billion was invested in U.S. solar, wind, storage, and EVs in the third quarter of 2024, according to Rhodium Group. The bad news: While that's a 12% increase year-over-year rise, it's not enough to keep up with world's climate goals, so we need to invest more and #DriveEnegyForward. https://lnkd.in/giW557qm

If you've been concerned about how renewable energy will grow in the next administration, take a look at this chart. As Eric Wesoff points out, "You’d be hard-pressed to pick out where a Democratic administration ends and a Republican administration begins." #DriveEnergyForward https://lnkd.in/gteFfxiB?

New NREL research shows how solar is a net positive for climate and for the habitats and soil where solar projects are installed. #DriveEnergyForward "The research found that prairie restoration activities can occur underneath solar panels. Once prairie vegetation was established, pollinators were observed using the site as much as dedicated conservation land, with evidence pointing towards increased abundance and diversity of both vegetation and pollinators under the solar panels." https://lnkd.in/gKM6J4Vx

Thanks for sharing our #communitysolar news!
“With 20% of the array generating solar power for Minoa, our Clemons Road Solar project exemplifies how we accomplish that goal, providing solar in Minoa for nearly 100 Minoa residents," said Aaron Halimi, president of Renewable Properties. https://lnkd.in/gReDhNqm

This 3.5 MW project is the definition of #communitysolar. 20% of the array has been subscribed by the residents of the Village of Minoa, NY, where the project was built. Thank you to all our partners! More details and a link to a local NPR report about the project is in Aaron's post below! #DriveEnergyForward
A few days ago, our team had a very special ribbon-cutting ceremony in the Village Of Minoa, New York for our Clemons Solar project. Here’s what makes this project truly special: Nearly 100 Minoa residents subscribed to this community solar array, including Minoa’s mayor. In fact, 20% of the Clemons Solar subscribers are Village residents who are now receiving utility bill credits from a local solar array built in their own backyard. These families’ portion of the 3.5 MW array will generate 878,702 kWh of solar every year—energy that’s as local as it gets. The entire array will generate enough clean energy for the equivalent of 409 homes in the greater Syracuse, NY area. Thank you, Mayor William F. Brazill for championing this project and helping to ensure that Minoa residents were first in line to subscribe. Thanks also to Ampion, PBC. for facilitating the local Minoa subscriber campaign and for managing the subscriptions. I’m also grateful to William Silva, CEO of our EPC partner, United Renewable Energy, LLC, for traveling to the ribbon cutting and leading a tour of this project. Finally, I’d like to thank RP’s Anthony Bell, Sarah DiMaria, and Carter Carlton for hosting, and Staci Umhey for organizing this successful project ribbon-cutting event. #DriveEnergyForward Listen to this local NPR news report for more comments from Mayor Brazill, Bill, and other attendees: https://lnkd.in/g7-SQYhP

Good news for non-profits wanting to go solar! The U.S. Department of the Treasury and the IRS released final regulations for "direct pay" investment tax credit (ITC). "Direct pay makes certain clean energy tax credits refundable as direct payments for entities, such as non-profits, that don’t have the tax liability to make use of credits. The entity can receive the full value of the credit because the IRS treats the elective payment amount as a tax payment. IRS then counts it as overpayment on the return and refunds it to the entity." #DriveEnergyForward https://lnkd.in/giVG6Pej

SEIA's latest "Solar Means Business" report shows that corporate America loves solar--and community solar--as much as residential customers. The top five companies in terms of solar procurement are Meta, Amazon, Google, Apple, and Walmart. SEIA's president and CEO Abigail Ross Hopper, said "These industry giants are investing in solar through a diverse range of applications, including onsite and off-site installations, on carports, paired with storage, or even as an anchor tenant for a community solar project." #DriveEnergyForward https://lnkd.in/gVmUUp8G
