Congratulations to the Renown Cardiac Ultrasound Apprenticeship Program's first graduating class! Renown employees took advantage of this program to advance their careers in a high-demand healthcare role and support a critical need across our health system. Anna Masters, Manager of Imaging, had some strong words of wisdom for our graduates: "I want to start off by commending the cardiac apprentice students for their hard work and dedication in this program. You should all be very proud of yourselves for this accomplishment and as we continue to strive for excellence. Be the one that continues to have the desire to improve more every day. I also wanted to express our appreciation to our echocardiograph team. These students would not be as successful in this role without the support and training that our sonographers have provided. Tonight, we light the LOVE sign gold to honor a special Renown Children's Hospital patient, beloved community member and childhood cancer advocate, Katie Histing. Katie has been treated for Ewing sarcoma, a rare form of childhood cancer, since 2018, and has recently faced a life-threatening health event. A candlelight vigil is being held for Katie at 5 p.m. tonight, Nov. 25, at Renown Regional, on the 6th floor of Mill Street Parking. We invite the community to join us in honoring Katie and her family. 💛

Rural health is a major aspect of our mission. As an academic health system, the University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine shares that promise. UNR Med's Rural Outreach Clinic, a crucial resource for our rural communities, visits Yerington, Fallon and Silver Springs throughout the year, providing full-service care to those who need it, including physical exams, blood work and vaccinations.
